Eat plenty of live yogurt. Yogurt kills yeast

what is a way u can treat a bacterial infection by yourself, at home?
what about a yeast infection?

For a yeast infection:

Take acidophilus (you can find it over the counter at any pharmacy; and make sure you keep it refrigerated) or yogurt (which contains acidophilus and other good bacteria), douche with a solution of 1 to 3 tbsp. vinegar in a quart of water (repeat once a day while having symptoms, but no longer than a week), decrease sugar intake, and if you’re sexually active, use a condom until clear and have your partner treated (because he may carry the bacteria and give the infection back). In addition to this, use any OTC yeast infection remedy at your pharmacy.

For a bacterial Infection:

You can try the above, but chances are you’ll end-up needing antibiotics to clear up the infection.

Hiya peoples!
Is there a natural way of curing a yeast infection in the genital area? The idea of shoving a pill up there…*shudder*

I heard somewhere that you could eat yogurt or something, but I’m not sure.
As in, without the pill round thing.

Natural live yoghurt can be used in two ways to deal with thrush: eating it and/or inserting it into your vagina. The key is not the yoghurt itself but the bacteria, lactobacillus acidophilus, in the yoghurt. This helps the body maintain, or regain, its natural pH level and keeps yeast under control.

Eating yoghurt may help keep yeast levels low throughout the body, but particularly in the stomach and intestines. Because candida in the bowel can easily make its way to the vulva and vagina, keeping your digestive system clear of thrush may help prevent vaginal thrush.

Inserting yoghurt into your vagina may also help restore your vaginal pH balance, but there is less scientific support for this method. If you want to give it a try, put one teaspoon of yoghurt in an applicator, a plastic syringe or on a tampon, and insert it high into your vagina. Repeat this every night for a week. It is important that you use only unsweetened, plain, live yoghurt.

The active ingredient in this treatment, lactobacillus acidophilus, is also available at health food stores as a supplement on its own.

Hope this is useful. For more ideas, check out this link. Good luck.

I just noticed a Lactobacillus Acidophilus product at the healthfood store that advertised that the bacteria end up in the female reproductive tract and help cure yeast infections and promote general vaginal health. Does anyone have experience with this? I’ve had chronic yeast infections- and I’ve tried other acidophilus products- they haven’t worked. I’m curious about this one because it is the only on I’ve seen specifically designed for vaginas.
Have you used it or known other who have had success with it?

It should work perfectly fine. I’ve heard of some women that were advised to put plain yogurt in their vaginas to fight severe yeast infections before.
I have heard more commonly and more often of women that were advised to eat yogurt daily or take a probiotic capsule daily to help prevent yeast infections in the first place (especially for chronic yeast infections).

The reason probiotics (including Acidophilus) work so well for that is that they help to promote an internal ecology that yeast has a hard time growing in. Give it a try and you’ll likely be very pleasantly surprised by the results.

It looks like she has a small round rash around that area. She is spayed.

See your vet.
It could be a bunch of things.

I am 17 weeks pregnant and I talked to my doctor and he said I could use over the counter medication for my yeast infection. So I bought Monistat 1 day treatment and used it last night and today I am still having problems. I was wondering how long it takes for the medicine to take effect.

Im 5 weeks and my gyno gave me a prescription for a yeast infection, but after reading the instructions and the warnings…like do not use during pregnancy…I don’t think Im going to take it.

Does anyone have any "home remedies"? I can’t really afford to take her to the vet and get expensive medicine. I would appreciate any ideas.

I use Apple Cider Vinegar from the health food store. I use it straight and put it in a little cup and use a clean washcloth to dab in there. Ive also heard you can use an eyedropper with ACV {apple cider vinegar} and put 0ne or two drops in each ear-bi weekly. Check out the AWESOME website below that has many home-remedies for pet ailments!

Can meds used to treat yeast infections, such as Monistat, interfere with the effectiveness of the Depo Provera shot?

Thanks for ur answers

I don’t have any idea about your problem. However, I came across a blog about yeast infection. Hope you find your answer there.

That’s odd, yeast is fed by sugar not salt so I’m not sure why you were told to not use salt.
You do need to cut out mushrooms, most dairy and sugary foods from your diet though. I’ve taken garlic for a while now and it seems to work better than anything else for me.
