i just found out that males can get a yeast infection to,i got treated for it but my boyfriend didnt and i just keep getting them over and over again.i told him to get checked but he refuses because he dosent want them to stick that thing in his dick so i told him im not going to have sex with him till he gets checked and he is acting really stuborn it is pissing me of excuse my language, why is he so scared i think it is very unsanitary to go 2 years without getting checked especially if we have sex more than 4 times a week,i really think my search is over to why i keep getting discharge and its him,i follow all the rules to stay clean but he just wont get checked.
Maybe it’s not yeast. Have you been checked…cultured…for other organisms?
‘Sometimes other vaginal infections masquerade as, or occur at the same time as yeast infections. Some women have never had formal testing of the vaginal organisms. And even if they have been tested, sometimes no other organisms were grown in culture, but nonetheless are still present in the vagina. Ask your doctor about the possibility of your having an infection that is not related to yeast." http://www.womenshealth.org/a/chronic_yeast_infections.htm [This site has some suggestions, if you find your infection IS chronic]
See if this article helps. It starts out, "Contrary to popular belief, men can’t be blamed for recurrent yeast infections." http://www.aphroditewomenshealth.com/news/20031121152832_health_news.shtml
Here’s another article to look at: http://womenshealth.about.com/cs/yeastinfections/ht/preventyeast.htm
Finally, "Researchers found no direct connection between male sex partners and yeast infections in women, even if the men themselves were infected, too." http://www.medicineonline.com/news/10/3880/Study-Absolves-Men-in-Yeast-Infections.html
Follow "old man’s" advice, as well: do NOT have sex until you have finished the treatment for the infection, whatever it turns out to be, or, as he says, "You’ll never get rid of it."
for like a week i had red and itchy labia, no bumps or anything, then it went away immediately when i got my period.. well when it stopped i realised i had what looks like a diaper rash or something between my vagina and anus. its definately not a herpes rash, its big and with hundreds of tiny bumps, not in clusters. very dry skin. can this be a yeast infection?
Do not know? Last time I had a yeast Infection was after a course of antibiotics. First symptom was itching. Second symptoms the urge to have sex with thousands of men if that would cure the itch. Third symptoms cottage cheese discharge whereupon I knew it was a yeast infection. Thankfully my GP gave me the new knock down pill, just one pill and it was gone.
I ask because the two people I have had sex with said they went and got checked and received negative for STD’s.
Symptoms may vary from very mild to severe and include:
burning of the vagina
burning when urinating
discomfort during or after sexual intercourse
odor (not unpleasant)
irritation of the vagina
itching and burning of the female genitals (vulva)
itching of the vagina
painful urination
painful intercourse
vulva redness and swelling
Vaginal discharge is not always present and may be minimal, but when present may be:
cottage-cheese-like in nature
thick, whitish-gray discharge
watery to thick in consistency
Women who have chronic or recurring yeast infections may need to be treated with vaginal creams for extended periods of time
my dog (he’s a cockapoo) has a scaly, white dry "look" in his ears–he keeps shaking his head and scratching at the outside…does this MEAN he has an infection?
Black, gooey and smells a bit like feet.
But you simply cannot treat with any ol medicine. A vet will run a gram stain that will identify, yeast, pseudomonas, or other bacteria responsible for ear infections. He/she will also be looking to see if it is gram positive or gram negative bacteria, all of which would change the drug of choice.
Just wondering…those creams freak me out.
Yes, most people say eat plain yogurt. But the thing is how to prevent them. First, yeast infections comes from a lot of things. too much sugar, imbalanced hormonal changes in the body, not wearing the right underwear, too much floral in the vaginal area, and or anything that irritates the vagina. You can make sure that you wipe from front to back and take showers, instead of a hot bath. keep it dry. cotton under is best. yeast grows in moist, dark areas. make sure that you are treating yeast. because sometimes women think it is yeast but it is bacterial vaginosis. that has to treated with a prescription. and also your doctor can give you a pill. i think you take it only once for that time. and it will clear up in seven days, but the symptoms you will feel relieve much earlier than seven days.
My babys 3weeks old and he has a yeast infection in his mouth. He’s had it for almost 3 weeks. We got a prescription for him to take 4 times daily but its gone and it hasn’t gone away. I have to take him for a check up in 3 days. Is there anything I can do until then to help clear it up?
Its not the kind of yeast infection that we get in our vagina! Its from the milk he eats. And when he falls asleep feeding and doesn’t swallow all the milk it just sits there.
um um i would be careful about the prescription!! Make sure it’s NOT an atibiotic that CAUSES yeast infections! yeast infections are so so hard to get rid of, but try the book "eat right 4 your type" by Peter J. D’Adamo and Catherine Whitney. yeast infections feed off the stuff that you eat and this book tells you what foods are best for your blood type and will help you work against the yeast rather than feed it.
My mom had a yeast infection for a really long time and she took antibiotics that almost killed her. finally she found this book and she’s felt so much better
Oral antibiotics stop your pills from being effective, not vaginal creams. You’re fine. BUT, do not have sex while on a vagina cream because you need to let the medicine work, and it keeps working even after you’ve showered the next morning…
I had a yeast infection and didn’t know about and gave it to my husband. His penis is irritated and sore. How can he get rid of this? He already tried to use vagisil but it hasnt worked?
Apply an over the counter fungicide like Lamisil AT, Lotrimin AF, or Monostat Derm. Just about anything for "Jock Itch" should work – jock itch is a yeast infection. Don’t wash with antibacterial soap because it may inhibit the growth of friendly bacteria that keep yeast-like forms from multiplying.
Also do not have intercourse until both of you have completed your treatments. As you just found out, couples can pass the infection back and forth making it difficult to kill completely.
I take medicines for rheumatoid arthritis that greatly lower my immune system. I can not get rid of a yeast infection. When I went to the dr, probably over a year ago now, he said I had a yeast infection, gave me meds, but they didn’t work. I’ve since taken monistat a few times over the past year. Yesterday I bought an at home yeast infection testing kit by Vagisil and it indicates yeast infection. I am taking monistat yet again, and I have little hope. I am so fed up. I’d like to hear things that have personally helped you. I don’t want information that is out there unless you’ve personally tried it and it worked! Help meeeee!!
I also suffer from a reoccurring yeast infection so I can completely sympathise. The below are things which I find to help as long term solutions as although medications get rid of it initially, within two weeks it comes back fighting.
Live yoghurt- contains bacteria which kills the yeast. Dip a tampon in some and insert for a few hours and smear around the outside. I find this to work very well and is one of the oldest home remedies about.
Studies have also shown that when yeast infections are present in the vagina they are ALWAYS present in the gut- leading to increased risk of reinfection so eat plenty as well.
Tea-tree essential oil- works well as is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, dilute with some water to create more volume and follow the method above. I usually use this for over night or if I do not have any yoghurt left.
The other thing to consider is your diet- yeast feeds directly off sugar so the more there is of it in your diet the more severe and likely attacks of thrush are, so cut down as much as possible.
Dairy is also known to aggravate thrush as are mushrooms (apart from shiitake for some reason!) Personally I love these foods so can not completely cut them out; however if I feel the beginnings of an attack or in the midst of one then I will cut them out until the problem is gone. It depends on how much you like these as to what your action is- I have found though that avoiding them during an attack makes it easier to get rid of so it stands to reason that in not eating them at all you are less likely to get an attack.
Good luck and I hope you have some success with the methods I have outlined. They work well for me and I have gone from almost constant thrush to having the occasional attack, which if I pick up on quickly can be averted or got rid of quickly.
