visually what is the difference

well, MT got it right about the description.

However, yeast infections can occur on more than the genitals. You can have a systemic infection, a blood infection, skin, genital, oral (thrush), anal, and there are others. I believe there are 7 different kinds of yeast infections.

My son had one (a very bad one) when he was an infant. Basically, if you have treated the rash for a few days with diaper rash cream and it is not getting better, or maybe even getting worse…then it is probably a yeast infection.

The doctor ordered some medicine by mouth and Lotrimin. I noticed an improvement within 24 hours.

I am on the 10th week of pregnancy and I have a vaginal yeast infection. My doctor has prescribed me metronidazole and miconazole nitrate. I read about the metronidazole and found out that it PROBABLY can be harmfull (birth defects). So, now I would like to know how harmfull can be the yeast infection if I do not treat it during the pregnancy. Or may be the is a way to treat it with something save?

When doctors decide on what medicine to give you, they weight the pro’s and con’s of the medicine. Also when you say that is can be harmful this means that they did a test and most likely 1 out of 400,000 babies had something wrong when they were born, even if it had nothing to do with the medicine they still have to put that caution on there. If you don’t treat it your going to be in pain and i don’t recommend doing that. Talk to your doctor but again he knows your pregnant and if he thought it would hurt the baby he wouldn’t give it to you in the first place. Good Luck!

HELP!!! ITS STUCK!!! I used Monistat 1 inside me, and it is still coming out!?!?!? How long does it take to come out of me!?!?!?!

relax! it will come out by itself! :)

anyway if you really want to get rid of yeast infection then you must follow these tips:

1) Eat yogurt!!!! It contains helpful bacteria (live cultures, including acidophilus and bifidus) that destroy yeast. Use only plain yogurt with active cultures.

2) Douche with a solution of 1 to 3 tbsp. vinegar in a quart of water. Repeat once a day while having symptoms, but no longer than a week.

3) Decrease or eliminate sugar and sugary foods. Sugar promotes yeast growth.

4) Use a garlic clove as a suppository. Garlic contains a natural anti-fungal agent.

5) Try gentian violet. It’s a traditional remedy for yeast and other infections, and can be found in pharmacies. Swab the area with it once or twice a day. Make sure to use a thick pad – it stains everything.

6) Use an herbal douche. Combine equal amounts of sage, raspberry and comfrey with 1/4 part goldenseal. This can be combined with cider vinegar.

7) You must use herbal treatment. In that case Yeastrol is really good (probably the best) product that gets rid of yeast infection comparatively fast and makes you feel more confident knowing that it wont reappear again!
And of course it is better if you use full course (5 months – if I remember correctly). For me it worked very fast + I dont get yeast infections anymore (almost 2 years) …

is it something to be worried about? he’s been prescribed diflucan, but his foreskin is usually really easy to retract. now it’s hard to retract and sore. help? will it always be this way, and does he need to be circumcised?

Circumcision should be the LAST resort in this day and age. There are stretching techniques available and also steroid creams to help loosen the skin. Get him to see a doctor.

The name says it all! In the past 5 years, I have put on about 30 pounds that I would like to take back off. I know that a main point is that I don’t get enough protein to help my muscles properly restore after exercising (which I could actually do more off as well). I can’t have gluten, yeast or soy. Although I can sort of tolerate milk and eggs, I do have a sensitivity to them as well, just not as severe as the others. I don’t mind them in small amounts. Most of my diet is high-carb foods.

Help!!!!

There are several great sites out there with lots of support and great recipes.

Fat Free Vegan has a lot of gluten and soy free recipes and most are yeast free too (usually without gluten there’s little reason for yeast).

Then this site has a lot of Gluten Free and Soy Free as well as Dairy & Egg Free recipes and ideas:

I love this site but not so sure about the soy-freeness of it. There’s bound to be some things though because it is gluten-free:

As far as protein, it’s in nearly all foods except refined sugars and some alcohols (even beer has some). There are lots of high-protein plant-based foods but there are a lot of myths around protein including the amounts we need (the RDA is actually padded and yet despite that vegetarians still usually get twice that amount) and how harmful excess protein is to us (it is acidic causing calcium to be drawn from our bones to balance the alkalinity of our blood) and unlike calcium, excess protein is not stored but is processed through and is hard on our kidneys, and gall bladder among others.

No, of course not. The majority of women will have a yeast infection at some point in their life, it is considered to be normal. You can even buy medication to treat it over the counter, which speaks to how common yeast infections are. Even guys can get yeast infections. Yeast infections can also occur in the mouth but in such cases are more commonly referred to as thrush.

Certain STDs (chlamydia being the main one) can scar your fallopian tubes and make ovulation virtually impossible to be completed, which can cause infertility in women. But a yeast infection itself just affects the vagina, not your reproductive organs (uterus, ovaries, or fallopian tubes).

It is common, treatable, and should not leave any lasting side effects!

You may have to start cleaning his ears regularly. My dog gets ear infections a lot too. It could also be from a food alergy. Just have your vet take a look at it. I clean out my dogs ears every week *now that it’s under control* and when he starts itching, I just squeeze some panalog into his ear to soothe it. Your vet will have something for you.

I’ve been having itchiness and swelling.
I’ve been on a water fast for 2 days now. I started the fast on the day I started menstruating so I’m on my period as well.
I’ve been using hydrogen peroxide which soothes the itch but I don’t think its doing anything for the infection.
Is there anything that will get rid of this fast? I’m so upset about this.

Home Remedies for Treating Yeast Infection
Vaginal yeast infection can either be cured orally or by vaginal insertion. Most of these home remedies have been tried and tested for their efficacy. You can usually cure yourself in the privacy of your home without the need to visit your gynecologist.

Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is a known natural antifungal. Pour a few drops of undiluted tea tree oil on a tampon and insert into vagina. Do this morning and night. A couple of days should be sufficient.

Garlic
Make a paste of garlic pods and apply to skin around the vagina. It may burn a bit, but is very effective. This paste can be used for yeast infection in other parts of the body too. Another way to use garlic for the cure of vaginal yeast infection is to cut a few garlic pods fine and wrap it in a cheesecloth. Insert into vagina for about 20 minutes leaving part of cheesecloth hanging out for easy removal.

Yogurt
Dip a tampon in yogurt and insert in vagina. Do this twice a day, once in the morning and at night till symptoms go away. Another way is to take a tablespoon of yogurt and inset into vagina. This is best done at night just before going to bed. Regular douching with yogurt has proved effective. Along with these cures it is also advised to eat plenty of yogurt. It is good for your entire system and will cure the fungus too. Buttermilk gives good results too. Drink a glass of buttermilk in the afternoon, and one at night.

Honey
This is probably the most sticky and uncomfortable way of curing vaginal yeast infection, but it is said to work wonders. Take half a cup of honey into the bathroom. Pour a liberal amount of honey on all affected portions, while sitting on the toilet seat. Be seated this way for about 20 minutes. After this you can have a bath with warm water. Dry the vaginal area thoroughly using super absorbent paper. You will feel much better. Do this twice a day, morning and just before going to bed at night.

Vinegar
Vinegar is renowned for its antibacterial and antifungal properties. Fill a bathtub with warm water mixed with 1 cup of vinegar. Soak in this bath solution for about 20 minutes. Dry the vaginal area thoroughly using super absorbent paper. Any vinegar will do, but the best results have been found using apple cider vinegar.

Precautions to Avoid Yeast Infection
Prevention is better than cure. Taking these precautions will ensure that you do not suffer from vaginal yeast infection.

– Avoid wearing clothing made of synthetic material.
– Avoid wearing leotards and pantyhose daily.
– Avoid wearing tight fitting panties.
– Avoid wearing tight jeans daily.
– Avoid remaining in wet clothes for too long.
– Wear clothes made of natural fibers.
– Wear well fitting cotton panties.
– Change wet clothes immediately to dry ones. Wipe yourself clean, especially the vaginal area with super absorbent paper.
– Avoid using sprays and perfumes in the genital area. Also stay away from deodorant sanitary pads and tampons.
– After using the toilet always wipe from front to back, never back to front.

So I think I have a yeast infection. I’m not entirely sure, but I’m almost sure. If my boyfriend.."ate me out" and licked around that area, could he get infected some how? What kind of infection would he get? And what if after he did that, he kissed me? Could I possibly get infected?

What you are describing is called "oral thrush" or just "thrush". It can be transmitted to a mouth and results in painless white sores inside the mouth. Antifungal (It’s not really "yeast" as you might think of bread, but a fungal infection) treatments are available. But http://herpes-coldsores.com/std/yeast_infection.htm notes that if your BF were to get those symptoms it’d be best for you both to get a medical confirmation that it is indeed,

http://sexuality.about.com/od/saferse1/a/safer_oral_sex.htm

states that oral sex can transfer "yeast", from vagina to mouth and also the other direction. It seems reasonable that mouth to mouth contact might also result in infection. However, if, for instance your BF had oral thrush and you did not have a vaginal infection of it, kissing only would not create a vaginal infection.

However neither page seemed to indicate th liklihood of such transfers happening, only the possibilities. The best approach, if you had a yeast infection (Candidiasis) is to get it diagnosed by a doctor as the same symptoms can be caused by other things. Get cured, then woo-hoo! Make whoopee!

PS- many women will take an over the counter remedy for yeast infection and that seems a reasonable approach if it is not a major infection and if it works immediately. If it does nto work then you must go to the doctor to find out what is going on down there.

I seem to have acquired a yeast infection three days into taking my medicine for my bacterial vaginal infection. What should I do? Continue taking the antibiotic gel until it’s gone and then get yeast infection medicine? Is this normal? Help.

yes sometimes depends on the brand or your condition ain’t really what it suppose to be
