26 weeks pregnant and diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis?
I’ve apparently had it for a few weeks… at first the doctor diagnosed me with a yeast infection I used the 7 day treatment as directed then today… the 7th day I noticed I was swollen and irritated still and by chance the nurse calls me and tells me I have bacterial vaginosis.
Im pretty mad at them for having me go through a yeast infection treatment needlessly especially during pregnancy .. I’ve had symptoms of pre-term labor with this pregnancy already aside from this… and now hearing this is scaring the crap out of me since its apparent I’ve had it for several weeks untreated.
Im just starting the antibiotics now…..I am aware of what it is but my question is,,,,, did anyone else have this and end up with a pre-term delivery???? How much do I need to be concerned with this? I’ve read up on it even before I got the offical diagnosis since I suspected it while treating myself for a yeast infection.
P.S this is my third pregnancy.
I had to deal with both during my entire pregnancy and I had a healthy girl born on her due date! I was opposite from you because they treated me for bacterial vaginosis and then called me almost a week later and told me it was a yeast infection and everything turned out fine. sorry guys this is kind of gross, but I cant ask my mom…
a couple of days ago, my boyfriend and I had raw sex, and i just found out that I have a yeast infection…(too much candy)…any ways I gave him oral sex and now I have it on my tounge and in my throat. Can he get it too since we’ve been kissing. and if so how do i tell him…its so embarressing. and what can i do naturally to cure this…I cant tell my mom. Please help!

I think that is what you meant. if so, this might be what happened: Your vaginal “yeast” (it’s actually a fungal infection) came in contact with his penis IF you had unprotected vaginal sex with him before giving him oral sex. It could then transfer to your throat. Could he get it from kissing you afterwards? Yes.
Now all of that sounded quite convoluted. It is also very possible, perhaps more likely, that you already had thrush in your mouth. As far as your Mom goes (can’t you see your doctor on your own?) you could have gotten thrush and maybe you did – simply by having recently taken antibiotics for instance. Smoking can also encourage it. Or you could have just gotten it by chance like you may sometimes get vaginal yeast infections. So you can get thrush from non-sexual contact. And your BF can get it from your mouth.(Perhaps your Mom might need some education though!)
The good news is that it is easily cured but you should go to your doctor to be sure you are properly diagnosed. take the medication – your BF too – exactly as directed. Don’t stop when the symptoms clear up as that can encourage the infection to return, with Candida who then know how to “fight” the meds!

Thrush/Balanitis question?
Thrush/balanitis, or male yeast infection question?
I am a circumcised male, and i think i may have thrush/balanitis. If I have it, is it possible for the infection to begin on the underside of my penis, and then slowly spread to the crease between my leg and my genitalia, and then to my testicle?
Also, would there be a stench to it? Thank you very much.
It can spread if left unchecked. And there is a smell to it because it is a living organism. Are you using Lotrimin on it? If it doesn’t get better after 3 days using Lotrimin go to the Dr. There are a lot of other rashes to consider.

Chronic Bacterial Vaginosis- Symptom of another condition?
Last year May I was diag. with bacterial vaginosis and treated with a dose of 3 pills at one time. (I also had an abnormal pap & colposcopy which came out negative.) I did not feel right and went back recently. I was diag. with vaginosis again and was given Flagyl for 7 days. I saw my regular MD for the past month for other symptoms,after a urine test said I had a UTI and gave me a dose of Cipro (3 pills/3 days.) I have finished this dosing and still 2 weeks later know that I am not right. I am going to go back t the Gyn again for a 4th treatment. Before the summer I have never had anything like this not even a yeast infection.
I have been going to my MD for other symptoms such has palpitations, high blood pressure (145/100), dizzy spells, nausea spells, fatigue, headaches, ear infections, flushing, periods of low body temp (94 deg) and low pulse, night sweats, sleep apnea and brown spots on my back. Now Im just nervous that the bacterial vaginosis could be a sign something else??
after reading your last paragraph there I would suggest you get your ovaries and thyroid checked or even your pituitary checked, they all control certain (different) hormones and if anything is wrong with them then your hormones will be off balance too. hormones control more than just a person’s reproductive drive, they also help regulate sleeping patterns, body temperature, body chemistry, balance..well just about everything really. so if your hormones are off, then everything else will be off too and even if the imbalance is not the direct cause then it still can open the way for other problems because of suppressing immunities.

shaved and now feel weird when i pee (yeast infection?)?
I shaved my “area” yesterday and as i said b4 i have irration which some have said is razor burn but also i have noticed brown stuff in my undies earlier today and i finshed my period about 3days ago. And everytime i pee after i wipe i feel so weird down here?

Dont worry about the rash thats normal. it will feel wierd to wipe because its very sensitive, probably even itchy.
and yeast infections are like a color of white to yellow. it might just be a leftover from your period.

is there HIV + red eyes relation ?
i have tested 3 times in one month…
i got a skin rush in my genital area.Doctor told me it is fungus and gave me micanozole nitrate and doxcycline 100 mg…using both it is passing after 2 weeks.
but every morning i wake up with red eyes!

Canine Ear Medication Also used on a Cat??
Hi, I was wondering if the canine medication MalOtic (it is a Gentamicin sulfate, usp betamethasone valerate, usp and clotrimazole, usp ointment) can be used on cats as well? For the same reason.. a bacteria/yeast infection. Is this medication commonly used in felines as well?? Thanks
btw, this was prescribed for my boyfriends cat by his vet.. i just am weary of putting a canine medication in the cat’s ears.. nowhere does it say feline
It is not approved by the FDA for use in cats….but yes, it is commonly prescribed for them. We have some leeway in doing so when a medication has been shown to be effective and safe for a specific usage, even if the company hasn’t spent the money to have it approved. Tresaderm is approved for bacterial/yeast infections in cats. I have only seen one adverse reaction in a cat using MalOtic….and I’m not convinced it was the medication that caused it. One out of hundreds is a lower rate than many approved medications, anyway.
I can’t say whether it’s safe for any cat I haven’t seen….but if your boyfriend’s DVM prescribed it specifically for his cat, then I’d feel pretty good about it.
VERY wise of you to ask, however!!! Sometimes, mistakes are made, and the wrong medication gets sent home for one reason or another. Always…and I do mean ALWAYS…call and ask if there is any doubt whatsoever.
