What is the difference of symptoms between HSV 1 and HSV 2?
Okay, so, I am a bit paranoid right now. I haven’t been sexually active in awhile [around 5 months], but I know that genital herpes can stay dormant for a long time. I’ve had oral herpes before; it was nasty. Green puss and all of the works. What I’m confused about if I DO have genital herpes, shouldn’t I have the same symptoms for the oral virus too?
I was on antibiotics for 10 days, got a yeast infection, and I have inflamed skin with bumps near my butt. Also, there’s a bit of dry skin. Any idea of what could have caused that? I’ve been searching everything; infected ingrown hairs, skin conditions, STDs..
TIA :]
Wow. Theres a lot going on with your question. Bear with me if this gets long.
The symptoms you are describing could EASILY be caused by irritation of your skin from the yeast infection, or a bad reaction to the antibiotic, or something other than herpes. Herpes symptoms will come and go in the form of outbreaks, and the sores hurt. A lot.
If you really want to know if it is herpes, then GO TO A DOCTOR and have them swab the sores. Don’t wait, becuase once the sores are gone you’d need to get a blood test, and the results from that are less conclusive than from a swab. All the websearches in the world won’t be as definitive as a lab test.
With regards to HSV1 and HSV2. They are very similar. You can get either virus in either place. HSV1 “prefers” the mouth, and usually causes worse symptoms orally than genitally, but you can get it on your genitals. HSV2 “prefers” the genitals, and is typically worse on the genitals than on the mouth, but can be caught either place.
The symptoms for both these viruses are pretty much the same. Recurrent sores (either blisters or just open sores) on your skin that are very painful, and subside after several days.
Initial outbreaks are a bit different, but I don’t think that either type causes “green pus.”
Neither virus can be cured, so if you had oral herpes before, you have it now.

Good luck.
