Is it ok to use expired monistat?

The monistat i found is around 2 years old. I was wanting to know is it ok to use it or should i try to buy another product for a penile yeast infection. I also have some lamasil at. Which would be better?
Lamasil is for jock itch and it is a anti fungal cream

I would strongly recommend against using the outdated monistat. The medication loses potency past its expiration date and if it was already opened, is not good at all anymore.
Speak to your pharmacist and see if they have a recommendation or go see the family doctor for a prescription of the appropriate medication for your infection.
While Lamasil is an anti-fungal, it may be inappropriate to apply to the penis or the wrong strength.

I hope this information helps and your problem is resolved quickly.

What can I do about a yeast infection during pregnancy?

Sorry if too much info, but I am currently 4 weeks pregnant and I have this HORRIBLE yeast infection. I have some cream but am afraid to use it because I have miscarried before and I don’t want to do anything to cause any harm! Is it safe to use over the counter creams for yeast infections this early in pregnancy? Thank you!!!
Uhh, don’t be childish curly, its just an avatar. Grow up..

I had a brutal one with my last baby and I used a off the shelf 3 day one. But I went to my doctor 1st and asked him. He said it should be fine. But talk to your doctor and find out. Better be safe, then sorry.

My dog has a yeast infection in his ear. Help?!?

My dog has a yeast infection in his ear. We’ve tried everything to help the little guy but nothing seems to work. We’ve taking him to several vets and he’s had several antibiotics but they only seem to make it worse. Do you know of any home remedies that are safe and effective for curing this yeast infection in his ear? By the way, he won’t eat yogurt, tried that already.

Some dogs with chronic yeast infections in the ear require systemic anti fungal medications. Usually an external ear canal infection is treated topically but if his is not resolving with just tropicals ask your doctor about oral anti fungals. Also some dogs with chronic ear infections or yeast infections of the skin should have there thyroid level checked. Chronic ear and skin infections can be an indication of hypothyroidism. Food allergy’s can also exacerbate ear and skin yeast infections. If your vet is not covering all the bases maybe you should seek advise from another one.
ADDITIONAL: Yeast in the ear of a dog is malasseziapachydermatitis, vaginal yeast infections are caused by candida albicans. They are similar oragnisims but not the same.

Have you used an OTC product to cure diaper rash caused by a yeast infection?

I was wondering if anyone has used an OTC product to cure diaper rash caused by a yeast infection? I’ve been reading up on otc fungal treatments, and found them to be quite interesting. Has anyone had good results? Please no rude answers, thank you.

I used a prescription cream, but it was basically Canesten with a small amount of hydrocordisone powder mixed in (the pharmacist actually misread the prescription and showed me the canesten on the shelf, before I pointed out the HC powder part of the RX). It worked pretty well, took a few days to fully clear up, but started improving right after the first application.

Do home remedies actually help a yeast infection?

I have been battling one fo days and its driving me insane! I got a 3 day over the counter treatment, and last night was the last treatment but this morning I can still feel it. I was reading online that home remedies work best but since I don’t have medical insurance, and not much money to spend, I’d like to either get another over the counter today, or spend the money on some things it said. Yogurt was one, apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, etc. But which one works better based on someones experience?

Someone on here advised to use something that worked and apparently it has been recommended in doctors offices when other things did not work. I’m not usually recommending home remedies but apparently she swore by Boric acid and it’s not expensive. Here’s one link about using it to treat yeast infections if that’s what you have. http://www.taoofherbs.com/articles/69/boricacidsuppositories.htm

You can ask a pharmacist where you can get the suppositories. Make sure you are wearing cotton underwear and do not hang out in a wet bathing suit since yeast thrives on warm moist environments. After getting out of the shower make sure the area is dry and some recommend sleeping without any underwear to help air it out.

However if it does not get better you may actually have a bacterial infection which requires antibiotics not antifungals. Hope this helps you.

Edited: Even though it was a 3 day treatment the information that comes with the medication says it can take 7 days to get rid of completely. I never had any luck with the one day treatment but using 3 or more days seemed to help. You can also use an external cream to help with the itching or you can get some oatmeal bath packets and sit in that as it can help with the itching. My doctor recommended I use oatmeal baths when I had itching and it helped a lot till I could get in to see him.

http://www.buzzle.com/articles/boric-acid-for-yeast-infections.html

“The topical usage of boric acid for yeast infection treatment gerally gives positive results, however, it is poisonous if taken orally. On taking it orally, it leads to nausea, diarrhea, dermatitis, kidney damage and even death. This is because it damages the vaginal lining and internal organs. Never use it during pregnancy. It is also not meant to be used on open wounds. Boric acid is never recommended for infants. Keep it away from the reach of children and pets at home. Use a liner on your bed as there may be some discharge of fluid. Dispose the liner along with the discharged fluid and spills of boric acid, if any, the next day. In addition to understanding how to get rid of yeast infections, let’s also see certain precautionary measures that can be taken to prevent yeast infections.”

DO NOT TAKE BORIC ACID ORALLY AS IT CAN BE FATAL!

How do I cure this yeast infection?!?!?

I apparently have a very resilient yeast infection in my hind quarters and likely my GI tract. It is resistant to azoles. I have been prescribed Nystatin and azole creams. They would work with limited success or not at all. I was prescribed Fluconazole and it didn’t do a thing. More recently, I was prescribed Grivulvin 500mg tablets. For about a week, I was showing dramatic improvement and then the symptoms started getting worst again. I have not interrupted my dosing.

Can anyone suggest something that I can take that is OTC or prescribed that I can talk to my doctor about. This is literally a pain in the rear and I do not have the slightest idea how to get rid of it.

A little background: I am male, 30, no STD’s or conditions affecting my health. I am about 25lbs overweight.

Any meaningful advise would be most graciously received.

Thanks,

Dave
Also, if possible, could you tell me a rough idea of how long it took for the treatment to work? Thanks.

Below, you will find some very easy ways to naturally heal your body from yeast infection. I encourage you that If you are pregnant or under the age of 18, then you should see a physician first.

I did some research on holistic and natural remedies that included probiotics and homeopathic for curing infections and found that they work better than the prescribed or over the counter drugs. Not only that, but you will no longer have a recurring yeast infection with natural remedies.
Here are some steps to take to cure yeast infection naturally:
1)Drink at least six glasses of water each day. Water helps to remove toxins
2)Aloe Vera Juice twice per day is very good for detoxifying the body from all infections including vaginal yeast infection because it strengthens the immune system.
3)Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with water and drink it. This kills all the bad bacteria in the body and you can even lose weight in the process. Don’t do this more than 1 to 3 times per week.
4)Eat yogurt on a daily basis. It contains the good kind of bacteria, Lactobacillus Acidolhylus , that is found in the body.
5)Take acidophilus or bifidus pills each day. This helps to encourage the good bacteria in the body. Make sure you keep these pills stored in a refrigerator for freshness.
6)Take Vitamin C tablets daily. This helps to build the immune system to protect it against infections. The Vitamin C and Acidophilus tablets when taken, naturally produces hydrogen peroxide in the body and strengthens to fight infection even more.
7)Make sure you consult your doctor if you are taking prescription drugs
8)Drink Alka Seltzer in water once each day for about 3 or 5 days
9)Drink some cranberry juice each day. Don’t add any sweetener.
10)Eat raw cranberries, if you can
11)Cranberry AZO pills are also good to take during the yeast infection period
12)Take a hot Sitz bath to relieve the itching. Fill up the bath with water and drop 5 tablespoons tea tree oil in the bath water and sit in the bath tub for about 15 minutes and no longer.
These are only some of the remedies for a yeast infection cure. If you would like to know more about how to cure yeast infection fast, I encourage you to get the book, Yeast Infection No More right now.

Below are some good sources that I found to be helpful to get rid of my yeast infection and it never came back again.

38 Weeks Pregnant Is It Safe To Use Monistat Products?

At my last appointment, my midwife said I had a slight amount of yeast. She didn’t seem to be too alarmed by it but told me I could do the yogurt saturated tampon thing or Tea Tree Vaginal suppositories to prevent it from getting worse. I DO know what a yeast infection feels like and currently I don’t really have any symptoms of one Except for some itching. But it’s not even inside vaginal area like a traditional yeast infection. It is definitely way more on the outside skin, like right in the crease where your panties sit. Surely it is o.k. to apply Monistat itch cream there, right?
Any other tips that could help? I have read some yeast is very common in pregnancy with ALL these hormones coupled with weight gain & moisture down in that area =) sorry tmi but everyone who’s been preggers knows it!

I definitely know about all the moisture down there once you get to be as pregnant as you are! I had twins the first time and (thankfully) I’m having just one baby this time and have the moisture to look forward to in the coming months. I’d think the external itch cream would be perfectly safe. It’s not like you’re sticking it inside, so there’s no worry there. I think doctors usually tell a pregnant woman with a yeast infection to use a Monistat 7-day treatment if they’re going to go the non-herbal treatment route anyway. If you’re really worried, I’d call your midwife and ask, but I really do think the external cream like you’re talking about would be fine to use.

yeast infection or std
Yeast Infection, std, something worse?

(this is really embarrassing for me, so please don’t say anything inappropriate) I have had this…yellow discharge(it started out white then it got yellow. Somtimes it is white or gray, or clear and it dries yellow.), and it sometimes i itch down there, but not often. Though when it does itch, it can get pretty bad. I’ve never had sex, except for this one time when i was little(i think i was around 7 or 8. At the oldest 9) one of my neighbors took advantage of me. It doesn’t have an awful odor, it does have some of an odor, but it’s not strong enough for anyone to notice it. That is all the symptoms that i know of. What is it?

It could be yeast infection ( usually it looks like cottage cheese). You don’t necessarily get it through sex, it can occur when the ph in your vagina is not balanced. For example if you’ve been taking antibiotics.
