shes licking her self alot.
we clipped the hair by her bottom and the next day she started liking herself constently, to the point that her bottom is completeley bare including the underside of her tail, its is all red and swollen, and driving her nuts, she dragging it and licking it.

Take your dog to a Vet. It might not even be a yeast infection.

I have heard this is a common problem and a lot of people use a home remedy of vinegar. How bout an over the counter human cream such as miconizole?
Don’t worry ‘rm’…this isn’t a case of someone not kowing. ;) This is not my dog and the dogs owner is experienced with this 4 or more times over. A home remedy is suitable here.

my vet prescribed an ear drop but i cant think of the name. it’s not that expensive. maybe $15.

also an ear wash

1 cup water
1 cup alcohol
1 cup vinegar

squirt a tsp. for large breeds, 1/2 tsp for small breeds into ear and massage for a second, then let them shake. it loosens that crap in their ears, then you can get a cotton ball to clean it out.

i use this w/my Catahoula. he gets a yeast at least once a year..he’s just prone to it.
i love the wash, it really helps clear it up after he’s done w/the drops.

i also found this site for you

She lost her hair. Her skin felt like elephant skin. She couldn’t stop itching.
I took her to the vet but they gave me no specific reason she may have got this infection or what may have caused it.

There are certain breeds that are predisposed to this disease such as cocker spaniels , basset hounds, and dachshund. It is usually caused by conditions of high humidity, and temperature, your dog could have a hypersensitive condition such as allergies especially food allergies, there could be defects in the normal way the skin sheds making it more susceptible for a yeast infection, certain hormonal diseases also could contribute to this as well it could also be a genetic predisposition. It would be important to rule out allergies because it is likely to recur if the cause of the allergies are not determined. Just to note yeast infections are not diagnosed by skin scrapings but by impression smears from the skin.

Our dog is 5 years old now and for the last month or so, he’s had a really bad yeast infection in his ears and around his chin. We’ve been giving him a prescription from the vet, but it doesn’t seem to be working very well. Could you tell me how i can treat it for a long time without having to spend too much money on any kind of medicine?

FROM THE INSIDE:
I’d first make sure he was on a high quality food without corn or wheat; these are very common empty additives; basically fillers with no nutritional value. They often cause nutritional imbalances and food allergies, making dogs more prone to infections of all types. Pretty much anything you pick up at the grocery store is going to have one or both.
I suggest either Canidae All Life Stages:

http://www.canidae.com/dogs/all_life_stages/dry.html

Or Wellness by Old Mother Hubbard, either the fish and sweet potato or one of the allergy diets, initially, until you get his system straightened out:

A tablespoon of plain yogurt on his food, once a day, helps re-establish beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract. Often yeast gets out of control when the good bacteria as well as the bad have been killed during a course of antibiotics.
Also try adding a tsp of apple cider vinegar to his water bowl, yeast will not flourish in an acidic environment.
ON THE OUTSIDE:
For an earwash my vet gave me this recipe:
1 part apple cider vinegar
1 part hydrogen peroxide
1 part water
(I combine 1/2 cup each in a clean empty dish soap bottle with the push-pull top, and refrigerate after using, then allow it to warm up on the counter a bit before re-using; discard any left over after one week and make a fresh batch)
Fill the ear canal with this solution, massage the base of the ear, and allow the dog to shake its head, then wipe with cotton balls. Never stick a q-tip into a dogs ear.
Yeast infection can be treated externally with over-the-counter creams for athlete’s foot or vaginal yeast infections (lamisil is our personal favorte) you can smear that in the ears and dab it on his chin; just be sure to soak off any crusts first with a warm wet cloth.

Treat, no. Yeast needs to be killed and you need medicine to do that. Cleaners may clean out some of the yeast, but you will not get rid of it unless you get medication to do this. Nothing you get at the drugstore will do this.

DONT USE FREAKIN MONOSTAT!!!! Not all yeast is built alike- human crotch yeast and dog ear yeast are not the same thing! Go to the vet- if he has bacteria in there as well it could get worse, develop an exudate, and abscess into his brain if you leave it long enough. Your dog will experience neurologic signs.

Yeast grows in moist heated places. Dogs with relaxed ears(basset hounds, dachshunds, beagles, labs, retrievers) tend to run into this more than dogs with pricked ears(german shepherd, great dane, doberman, pitbull). The reason is that air is not allowed to easily flow in and out of the ear. This being said, moisture and heat and stagnant air flow is a breeding ground for yeast. An easy way to prevent ear infections is to purchase an ear cleansing solution at the vets office. Dog.com also sells pads with the cleansing solution on them presoaked. Good luck!

I know that a et will be the best way to go but, it is 10:00pm and it will be $200.00 to walk through the door. I just want to help him if I can.

Go to the local drugstore and buy some "Monastat" which is for vaginal yeast infections. Clean his ear as well as possible with a tissue. Take a cotton ball or tissue and swab a bit of the ointment in his ear. Do Not use q-tips. Massage his ears to work it in.

It seems to start with a flea allergy, goes into hot spots, then darkening smelly patches usually under forearm area and neck creases. I feed her enzyme rich food.(Eagle Pack) Have tried adding yogurt to her diet and tried many skin remedies for the intense itching.

My dog has major allergies as well and gets that stupid yeast infection in her ears all the time. Cortisone shots seem to help but that can get expensive. I give my dog benadryl and that works great, simply sleep has the exact same ingredients and sometimes is cheaper. No need to go with the name brands the cheap stuff works just as well. It makes her a little sleepy sometimes and other times she gets wound up. I put a little peanut butter on a cracker and stick the pill in the peanut butter. Also for her skin I use an oatmeal shampoo and when she is still a little damp I rub cocoa butter with shea butter lotion into her coat and skin. She absolutely loves this routine and likes the rub down with the lotion. At first she tried to eat it all off but then discovered she felt so much better with it in her skin. Good luck.

I took my dog to get groomed today. The groomer cleaned his ears with a wipe and when he removed the wipe, there was a little bit of ear gunk. Normal stuff like we get. But then he said that my dog has a little bit of a yeast infection in his ears.
How can he tell?

Many times due to the smell, and the ‘wetness’
You may want to check your dogs’ food.
I had a basset, and he was constantly going to the vet for ear infections (Yeast can turn into ear infection)
Anyway, I’d pay like $50 for vet visit, get 10 days of Antibiotic, 11th day-wham, another ear infection, back to then vet, another $50, another 10 days-
Eventually, he put him on steroids.
I started to do research, and found that corn was one of the biggest allergy triggers.
And what does an allergy look like?
Scratching with no fleas, excessive shedding, hot spots, and ear infections!
My guy had them all!
I was feeding a grocery brand food, not knowing any better.-didn’t realize it was all artificial colors!
I started using Nutro Natural Choice, lamb & rice.
Ear infections went away!
Scratching, shedding and hot spots- gone!
Nutro is 100% guaranted to improve skin and coat and, guaranteed for taste!
Can’t go wrong
I no longer have to spend all that money on vet visits, or medicatin.
Give it a try!

It looks like she has a small round rash around that area. She is spayed.

See your vet.
It could be a bunch of things.
