How to Treat Yeast Infection Archives

I’m on the 4th day of using a 7-day Monistat (they say its best to use the longest versions). I’ve taken vinegar and salt baths to relieve itching/burning. I’m wondering if it’s okay to do the yogurt-treatment alongside the Monistat treatment? It’s been a long time since I’ve had a yeast infection, but I used to freeze yogurt in tampon applicators, and insert them during the day. They were GREAT, but I can’t remember if I used them with over-the-counter medication as well.

Any ideas?

You can definitely use them together. Take cranberry supplements in the future to prevent UIT’s and yeast infections. Also buy yourself some D-mannose (www.swansonvitamins.com has it very affordable), the next time you feel an infection starting up take a capsule or two for a couple days and you’ll never need monistat or an antibiotic again. It doens’t kill the good bacteria in your body and it’s natural; it comes from concentrated cranberry sugars.
I get infections all the time which have led to kidney infections twice now and I’m only 20! Since I’ve taken the D-mannose I’ve had NO problems wiping out any infection that tries to start up. I swear by the stuff!

Good luck!

Im 6 and a half weeks pregnant. Is it safe to use the cream inside to treat a yeast infection?

Is Cream of Tartar Good for Yeast Infection: The Real Answer:

I was prescribes antibiotics for a sore throat, and now I think I’m getting a yeast infection. I know that antibiotics can destroy natural bacteria in your vagina that would normally prevent these infections, but I was wondering if you could treat for the YI while on antibiotics? Or would it not do anything? Is it better to wait after I finish taking the prescribed antibiotics because I’m supposed to be eating it for like 10 days or something.
Thanks for your help!

Yogurt is good to prevent a yeast infection while on the antibiotic, but to treat it use a product like monistat(any over the counter yeast infection med. They can be used at the same time as your antibiotic.

I am currently pregnant and will be 9 months May 15th. Before I was pregnant I had a couple of yeast infections and treated them with the whole yogurt on the tampon remedy and it helped to cure it, but is it safe to do this while being pregnant? And if not are there any other home remedies that you could do to treat it thats safe for me and my baby?

I had thrush whilst 8 months pregnant. I phoned my GP and he said it was safe to use a Canestan Pessary which I did. Baby was fine and infection cleared straight away. Speak to your GP.

I have an yeast infection. I’m treating it with generic brand cream from Wal-Mart. I notice though that I have so much discharge coming out and lots of pressure in my vagina. Is that normal? I was planning to take pill medications since I have a feeling that the cream is not working. Have anyone tried over the counter pill like AZO? Did it work? If you know any other brand pleas do tell.

If its mild yeast infection its better to use OTC cream like Monistat but if its more serious you need a prescription medication. It can also be bacterial infection which definitely needs prescription meds so go to your gynecologist and get over with it asap.

I almost positive i have a yeast infection, but i want to treat it naturally. I heard that using yogurt will help, any other suggestions? Would antibiotic cream work?

Don’t use antibiotic cream – it can make a yeast infection worse! Yeast infections are caused by a fungus. Antibiotic creams only work against bacteria. There are actually some kinds of "good" bacteria living in your vagina that help keep the yeast fungus under control. In fact, the last time I had a yeast infection, it developed because I was taking antibiotics for another problem and as a side effect, it killed off the good bacteria.

Yogurt is a good natural remedy (but not any old yogurt – you have to specifically look for one that contains active cultures). I’ve also heard that fresh, uncooked garlic can help (use it like a tampon), as can teatree oil.

As for me, I’ve always just used monistat.

I am 6 months pregnant. Is it safe to use monistat etc to treat a yeast infection, or do I need to see the doctor?

talk to your Ob/Gyn, just because you don’t know what kind of infection it is and you may need to take a pill form of medication to treat it in addition to the vaginal cream. I had MULTIPLE infections during my pregnancy and sometimes he had me treat with a cream, others with a pill, and sometimes with both. It doesn’t hurt to call. Good luck and CONGRATS!

does over the counter meds treat yeast infections? Is there such a thing as a mild yeast infection or a severe one? I think I got it from taking antibiotics that happens right?

Absolutely!! It happens because antibiotics can alter the body’s internal balance. Now, you can buy a Vagisil screening kit that will test the PH of the discharge, but to me, it will be a waste of money at this point because you were taking antibiotics, which a lot of the time, they do cause this problem. So, I would recommend using Monistat because it works right away and helps with the onset of symptoms that your having, especially that itchiness. Just a tip for the future, when your going to take antibiotics, especially the one that you took this time, (which a lot of time is amoxicillin or zithromax) try eating some yogurt throughout the day, it will replace some of the good bacteria that the antibiotics took away. Good luck!

My friend has a yeast infection in her belly button and no insurance, so no doctor. So, is there any way to treat it and clear it up using over the counter things?
She has been getting them since she was a teen (then she could go see a doctor though). Not overweight and not a hygeine problem either. It’s only ever there too, never goes anywhere else on her.

use the same cream that is used for vaginal yeast. u sure that is the only place she has it? not in her mouth or vagina too? how do you know it is yeast? anyway.. try the cream for vaginal yeast. if that doesn’t work, then go to a clinic that has a sliding scale system of payment.

Okay…so I have been under attack by the yeastie bastards. I treated the infection with Monistat Day or Night first; it didn’t work. Then, after that put a dent in my bank ($20), but did not supply results, I used the Equate 3 day treatment. This didn’t work either. I started looking online for natural remedies and found garlic was a enemy to yeast. I tried it and low and behold the infection seemed to clear up almost immediately. The next day I resumed sexual activity with my husband as usual, but afterwards I started feeling the itchy feeling and by the morning it had returned. I once again treated it with garlic and waited two more days before resuming intercourse, but when I did the infection again returned. How long does it take for garlic to get rid of this for good? I can’t keep relapsing back into agony. I have had this for over a week now, but I can’t go to the doctor on the account that I have no insurance and it costs a lot of money. Please help!
