Mouth Yeast Infection Archives

I was just curious, I wouldn’t let anyone do that to me or anything!

Yes…..a yeast infection in the mouth is called THRUSH.
White patches will appear inside on the cheeks and the back of the tongue.

Should I make an appointment with the doctor? What will they do? Does this involve shots?

if you really want to get rid of yeast infection then you must follow these tips:

1) Eat yogurt!!!! It contains helpful bacteria (live cultures, including acidophilus and bifidus) that destroy yeast. Use only plain yogurt with active cultures.

2) Douche with a solution of 1 to 3 tbsp. vinegar in a quart of water. Repeat once a day while having symptoms, but no longer than a week.

3) Decrease or eliminate sugar and sugary foods. Sugar promotes yeast growth.

4) Use a garlic clove as a suppository. Garlic contains a natural anti-fungal agent.

5) Try gentian violet. It’s a traditional remedy for yeast and other infections, and can be found in pharmacies. Swab the area with it once or twice a day. Make sure to use a thick pad – it stains everything.

6) Use an herbal douche. Combine equal amounts of sage, raspberry and comfrey with 1/4 part goldenseal. This can be combined with cider vinegar.

7) You must use herbal treatment. In that case Yeastrol is really good (probably the best) product that gets rid of yeast infection comparatively fast and makes you feel more confident knowing that it wont reappear again!
And of course it is better if you use full course (5 months – if I remember correctly). For me it worked very fast + I dont get yeast infections anymore…

I do not know if any pharmacies carry Yeastrol but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.mybeautynhealth.com/product/overview/Yeastrol/

good luck!

Working in women’s health – Gynecologist + personal experience

I’ve had a very sore spot on the roof of my mouth for about a week now. It hurts when I eat anything that touches it. It hurts worse when I consume strong foods like: mustard, ketchup, salt … etc. I don’t know if I just hurt the roof of my mouth or if I actually have a yeast infection. I have no idea what would have caused this but its painful and I want it to go away. Any one got any suggestions?

Its very rare to have a yeast infection on just the top of your mouth. If you had a yeast infection it would be wite goop on the back of your throat and all it looks like cottage cheese on the back of your throat. Im thinking it is a ulcer. Which is a canker sore on the inside of your mouth. This is why it burns like when you eat tart ot acidic things. Wash your mouth with warm salt water everytime you get a chance during the day and keep it dry they have this medicine out that you can apply to it that will keep it dry. Look in walmart near the chap stick and things like taht. Good luck. I feel your pain

yes, The infection is caused by a type of yeast or fungus called Candida this yeast lives in your mouth, vagina, and rectum all the time, but it sometimes gets out of control and causes an infection. You need to go to a doctor to get medicine to correct the condition.

So I got my tongue pierced about 2 months ago, when I got it done the piercer said that you can get yeast infections in your mouth sometimes, because you just had a mouth tama or something. Well turns out I do, I got a perscripsion, and took that, but it still won’t go away. Any ideas?

Oh and how easily does this spread :/?

What was your prescription? Fluconazole? Itraconazole? If so, it could be resistant. The best choice is oral nystatin. It is a sweet tasting liquid that treats right at the site instead of messing with your other normal body flora. You do need a prescription for it. If you were on nystatin already and it didn’t work for you, then you have a very rare case of thrush. In all my years as a microbiologist, I have never seen nystatin NOT work for an otherwise healthy individual.

Don’t worry about passing it on when kissing, sharing drinks, etc. A little yeast is normal in everyone’s mouth. Even if they are exposed to your yeast, they still have other normal mouth bacteria like Neisseria, Strep, Staph, etc. which would protect them from becoming overrun with oral yeast you have. Of course I wouldn’t go around licking everything. :)

Good luck and take care!

you’re amazing =] i actually did get the sugar free ones =]

Yes, the jello will cool it especially if it is cold, but too much sugar is not good for yeast infections, so make sure that you eat one jello for the entire week.
Eat yogurt on a daily basis. It contains the good kind of bacteria, Lactobacillus Acidolhylus , that is found in the body.

Below are some good sources that I found to be helpful to get rid of my yeast infection and it never came back again.

Someone told me that if a guy gave oral sex to girl with a yeast infection, they can get the yeast infection in their mouth…is this true?
Well, I mean, what if you didn’t know you had a yeast infection, and he gave you oral sex?

I can’t find anything on it.
To clarify, I didn’t know when it happened and STILL don’t know if I have a yeast infection… I’m not having classic symptoms…

I’m just worried about unknowingly giving it to him.
Can you not answer the question unless you know what you are talking about?
And how long would it take for symptoms to start showing?

a yeast infection is when that lovely fungus down below realizes that it’s dark and moist and maybe it’s a good time to reproduce. so what else is dark and moist? your mouth. a yeast infection can’t tell the difference between a mouth and a vagina.

a yeast infection of the mouth is known as thrush. Here is the information about Thrush.

What is thrush?

Thrush (oropharyngeal candidiasis, or OPC) is a yeast infection that develops in the mouth and throat and on the tongue.

Thrush is most common in newborns, infants, and older adults, but it can occur at any age. In healthy newborns and infants, thrush is usually not a serious problem and is easily treated and cured.

What causes thrush?

Thrush occurs when a yeast called candida grows out of control. Candida normally is present in small amounts in the mouth and on other mucous membranes. However, under certain circumstances, candida can grow rapidly, causing thrush.

Thrush can be a recurring problem for people who have chronic illnesses or who take medications that impair the body’s ability to fight infection (weakened immune system). Since these people have difficulty fighting infections, the fungus that causes thrush can spread throughout the body, causing life-threatening blood or organ infections.

What are the symptoms?

Thrush looks like white patches of cottage cheese or milk curds on the tongue or other surfaces in the mouth. In infants, thrush is often mistaken for milk or formula. The patches adhere to the tongue and mouth and cannot be easily wiped away. However, with scraping or rubbing (during brushing, for example), the patches may come off. The tissue around and under the white patches may be red and raw-looking and may bleed. If thrush becomes severe, it can extend into the throat, causing pain and difficulty swallowing.

How is thrush diagnosed?

A visual examination is usually all that is needed to diagnose thrush. In addition to looking in your mouth, your doctor will ask you questions about your health.

How is thrush treated?

Medications that inhibit the growth of fungi (antifungals) are the standard treatment for thrush. These medications are either applied directly to the affected area (topical) or swallowed (oral).

I have a white coating on my tongue that burns… my whole mouth burns….

Yes you can…what you have is most likely called Thrush…You can get medicine for this at the doctor….

Or could you get it from…someone having a yeast infection (vagina), and they dried it …down there, and then the person puts the towel up to their face? Is that possible, or no?

Unlikely, but possible. Yeast, or Candida, is a bacteria, thus can be passed on any surface. Candida can live on lots of surfaces….

Thrush is a Candida infection of the mouth that little kids get a lot….and obviously they aren’t getting it from oral sex.
