Recurring Yeast Infections Archives

For the past 8 months I’ve gotten yeast infections every month after my period. I go to the Dr., they prescribe Diflucan and send me on my way. But there has to be something wrong. I know this isn’t normal. Has anyone else experienced this? What are my treatment options?

A little Hx: Im not pregnant…do not have HIV as these are the causes of some recurring yeast infections. For this to happen every month after my period maybe it is a Ph Balance issue??

Any help would be appreciated. Im at my witts end.

Yeast infections can be passed back and forth between sex partners. Your partner should also be treated.

If you choose to eat yogurt every day for the infections, it should be the plain, unflavored kind, as the others tend to have added sugar, which will aggravate the yeast infection. Personally, I can’t stand the taste of unflavored yogurt, so I take acidophilus pills. They can be found in the vitamin section of the store.

Also, you may want to be checked for diabetes, as yeast infections are also a symptom for that.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Your diet will play a role in recovery. You should cut back on sweets and soda, and any foods containing yeast, such as breads, doughnuts, and beer.

I’ve been struggling this since march after I was on antibiotics off ,and on meaning 2 weeks it would be gone get it again 3 weeks gone 3 weeks get it again .I need some advice from some people who went through this ,but any advice would help about now note to mention I have tried most over the counter products.

if you really want to get rid of yeast infection then you must follow these tips – they worked for me:

1) Eat yogurt!!!! It contains helpful bacteria (live cultures, including acidophilus and bifidus) that destroy yeast. Use only plain yogurt with active cultures.

2) Douche with a solution of 1 to 3 tbsp. vinegar in a quart of water. Repeat once a day while having symptoms, but no longer than a week.

3) Decrease or eliminate sugar and sugary foods. Sugar promotes yeast growth.

4) Use a garlic clove as a suppository. Garlic contains a natural anti-fungal agent.

5) also you should use some herbal treatment. In that case Yeastrol is really good (probably the best) product that gets rid of yeast infection comparatively fast and makes you feel more confident knowing that it wont reappear again!
And of course it is better if you use full course (5 months – if I remember correctly).

This is my second pregnancy & I have had a zillion complications so far. Here’s a breakdown:
1) I found out I have genital warts & HPV that they cant treat because I am pregnant
2) I have had several UTI’s & yeast infections my entire pregnancy. Have been on prescription gels, creams & oral antibiotics for thrush but it comes back everytime. The Canesten seems to work the best but it returns within a week afterwards.
3) I have been diagnosed with Group B Strep & need to have antibiotics during labour.

I am due in a week & am in such pain from this "yeast" infection it is unbearable to move. It is so swollen & red & itches. The discharge seems to burn, especially during sex, it gets EVERYWHERE. I have to wear sanitary pads all the time. It interrupts my sleep. Anyone know how I can get rid of this or should I just wait until after the baby comes? How worried should I be that any of these diagnoses will harm the baby?
Thanks.

if you have genital warts – you MUST get rid of them as soon as it is possible because genital warts are very contagious!!

and if you really want to get rid of genital warts forever then you should know that you can remove genital warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or cream but genital warts can reappear again and again because genital warts appears when your immune system is weak!

HPV is the virus that causes genital warts. People can be infected with HPV and never show any symptoms. Others will develop genital warts. These warts can stay the same size, grow, or go away on their own. It largely depends on the infected person’s immune system. A healthy immune system means your body may be able to suppress the virus and not show symptoms.

Even after the warts go away, the person will always remain infected with HPV. That person can spread the virus even without showing symptoms.

so you must build up your immune system because your body can get rid of genital warts by itself if your immune system will be strong! so eat more healthy food, more vitamins and more sport activities! (No smoking, no beer/ale, no booze, no drugs, no junk food, no fast food garbage, no sugary sweet soda’s. Get on a good, balanced, healthy diet including plenty of boiled or steamed vegetables.
Drink P L E N T Y O F W A T E R , fruit juices & fat free milk. Snack on lots of RAW fruit & veggies. Get up one hour early every morning & take a BRISK 30 minute walk – then – do the same thing again in the evening after dinner. Make sure you eat a good, balanced breakfast daily. You get your energy for the day from your breakfast meal. Get 8 hours sleep each night. Flip your mattress over so it will level out to give you a good night’s rest. Slack off too much coffee & tea)

also you must use herbal treatment because you can not always live 100% healthy…!!!

in that case Wartrol is really good (probably the best) product that gets rid of genital warts comparatively fast and makes you feel more confident knowing that they wont reappear again! It works by stimulating your immune system to fight the HPV virus that causes the warts + it helps to prevent cervical, penile, anal and etc cancer because HPV virus in 70% cases cause cancer!!!

and of course it is better if you use full course (5 months – if I remember correctly).

It worked very fast and still works for me because I do not have genital wart outbreaks anymore and my papsmear is still normal!!!

I am 32 years old. I have been suffering from yeast infection since i was 25 years old.
I have been to the doctor almost every 6 mths for the past 7 years but this recurring yeast infection never seemed to go away.
I have also tried over the counter medication such as cream and unrinary alkaliniser such as Citravescent but i can’t seemed to get rid of yeast infection.
Pls help! I need a permanent cure.

Hi Grace,

I was in the exact same position as you about a year ago. I was equally frustrated because on the itch and hated this recurring yeast infection.

I’ve tried many products from doctor and pharmacists but all efforts failed. Luckily, I came across this product that not only get rid of yeast infection, but also reveal the root cause of the my problem!

From that day onwards, i realized that drugs from doctor or products sold over the counter is basically meant for on-going use and not to permanently eliminate the problem.

If you really serious in getting a permanent cure,
go to www.treat-yeast-infection.com now.

I was taking Yaz for a little over 4 months, and during that time I had a yeast infection once a month! (normally I do not get them at all) Well, I stopped taking Yaz back in mid July, so I’ve been off the pill for a month and a half now. I got another yeast infection in August, right after I stopped taking them, and now I feel like I’m getting another, even though the hormones haven’t been in my system for a month and a half!

Has anyone else out there suffered from recurring frequent yeast infections from taking a BC pill…and if so, how long after stopping with the pill did you stop getting them?
Please, no sales pitches trying to sell me products to cure my infections, I already know how to do that — personal experience only — thanks!

It can be a few months before all the hormones of the pill come out of your system but I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

Agree with starting over. Both are signs that your body is tired and is not fighting off bacteria.
Watch your diet, increase fluids and keep in mind that if you take antibiotics, it can cause a yeast infection as well.

i just found out that males can get a yeast infection to,i got treated for it but my boyfriend didnt and i just keep getting them over and over again.i told him to get checked but he refuses because he dosent want them to stick that thing in his dick so i told him im not going to have sex with him till he gets checked and he is acting really stuborn it is pissing me of excuse my language, why is he so scared i think it is very unsanitary to go 2 years without getting checked especially if we have sex more than 4 times a week,i really think my search is over to why i keep getting discharge and its him,i follow all the rules to stay clean but he just wont get checked.

Maybe it’s not yeast. Have you been checked…cultured…for other organisms?

‘Sometimes other vaginal infections masquerade as, or occur at the same time as yeast infections. Some women have never had formal testing of the vaginal organisms. And even if they have been tested, sometimes no other organisms were grown in culture, but nonetheless are still present in the vagina. Ask your doctor about the possibility of your having an infection that is not related to yeast." http://www.womenshealth.org/a/chronic_yeast_infections.htm [This site has some suggestions, if you find your infection IS chronic]

See if this article helps. It starts out, "Contrary to popular belief, men can’t be blamed for recurrent yeast infections." http://www.aphroditewomenshealth.com/news/20031121152832_health_news.shtml

Here’s another article to look at: http://womenshealth.about.com/cs/yeastinfections/ht/preventyeast.htm

Finally, "Researchers found no direct connection between male sex partners and yeast infections in women, even if the men themselves were infected, too." http://www.medicineonline.com/news/10/3880/Study-Absolves-Men-in-Yeast-Infections.html

Follow "old man’s" advice, as well: do NOT have sex until you have finished the treatment for the infection, whatever it turns out to be, or, as he says, "You’ll never get rid of it."

I take medicines for rheumatoid arthritis that greatly lower my immune system. I can not get rid of a yeast infection. When I went to the dr, probably over a year ago now, he said I had a yeast infection, gave me meds, but they didn’t work. I’ve since taken monistat a few times over the past year. Yesterday I bought an at home yeast infection testing kit by Vagisil and it indicates yeast infection. I am taking monistat yet again, and I have little hope. I am so fed up. I’d like to hear things that have personally helped you. I don’t want information that is out there unless you’ve personally tried it and it worked! Help meeeee!!

I also suffer from a reoccurring yeast infection so I can completely sympathise. The below are things which I find to help as long term solutions as although medications get rid of it initially, within two weeks it comes back fighting.

Live yoghurt- contains bacteria which kills the yeast. Dip a tampon in some and insert for a few hours and smear around the outside. I find this to work very well and is one of the oldest home remedies about.
Studies have also shown that when yeast infections are present in the vagina they are ALWAYS present in the gut- leading to increased risk of reinfection so eat plenty as well.

Tea-tree essential oil- works well as is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, dilute with some water to create more volume and follow the method above. I usually use this for over night or if I do not have any yoghurt left.

The other thing to consider is your diet- yeast feeds directly off sugar so the more there is of it in your diet the more severe and likely attacks of thrush are, so cut down as much as possible.

Dairy is also known to aggravate thrush as are mushrooms (apart from shiitake for some reason!) Personally I love these foods so can not completely cut them out; however if I feel the beginnings of an attack or in the midst of one then I will cut them out until the problem is gone. It depends on how much you like these as to what your action is- I have found though that avoiding them during an attack makes it easier to get rid of so it stands to reason that in not eating them at all you are less likely to get an attack.

Good luck and I hope you have some success with the methods I have outlined. They work well for me and I have gone from almost constant thrush to having the occasional attack, which if I pick up on quickly can be averted or got rid of quickly.

I was diagnosed with a yeast infection almost three weeks ago. I had tried monistat and it didn’t work. I was given two Diflucan and took them a week apart. I thought I was better but after my period I started to have the same pains again and a slight discharge.

I’ve made an appointment for tomorrow to see my gynecologist.

Is there a medicine that’s stronger than Diflucan? Or can he give me a higher dose of it that would cure the yeast infection (assuming that is what this is again). Can you use both Diflucan and monistat?

Thanks!

Btw, please don’t say it’s an STD. I was tested less than a month ago and I’m completely clean.

Try this site its excellent, it has cures for alot of aliments especially a couple for yeast infections… one that worked for me was hydrogen peroxide…seriously, i was taking alot of medicine which caused me to has yeast infections, since the HP method havent had one since.. good luck

I stopped taking birth control in Feb of this year and since then I’ve been getting my period about twice a month. Last month I got a yeast infection and started bleeding, so I took Monistat 7 and it went away after treatment was completed. A few days ago I started feeling crappy again and figured I have another yeast infection… again I started bleeding with it. I am using Monistat (3 day treatment) this time. First night went ok, however tonight after using the cream I had severe burning and discomfort. I am 27 and this is the first time I have ever had this issue. I don’t know what to do. I can’t call my doc till Monday… Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Only health issue I am aware of is an underactive thyroid, which was diagnosed last month (not currently on meds for this condition).

The three day treatment is really strong for some women. I can’t use and thing but the 7 day treatment. Go back and get the monistat7 and that should help
