Recurring Yeast Infections Archives

HI,

I got treated with antibiotics by this stupid dr. I got a yeast infection (Candida Albicans), treated it with 3 days monistat, it didn’t seem to go away…I had some swabs done on monday and they came back negative for yeast (this was done at the hospital at emerge) now I went back to my regular md and she said the infection is still there…I have been feeling that burning discomfort… Is this possiible??? I’ve been treated twice… and got swabs done on monday and came back negative for yeast but now she says the infection is still there… She gave me some cream but I’m afarid to use it.. what if she’s wrong? What happens if I use this medication? Can this happen?? Have negative swabs and then by physical examination she says I still have it??! HELP!
I did get treated with diflucan

Well, it sounds like you are having a conflicting answers. Is there anyway you can visit another OB or something like Planned Parenthood? If you have a yeast infection it should be showing up on any sort of swab. Burning can be a sign of a yeast infection or UTI (It is a fairly common symptom as far as women’s health problems go)

Monistat isn’t always going to work, which is why sometimes it is easier to get a prescription from a provider. If you catch it early you can turn to some natural treatments (garlic/yogurt suppositories) If it’s your first yeast infection, or you are unsure it’s a yeast infection it’s always recommended you visit a provider.

What is the name of the cream? There are lot’s of antifungal creams that can be used to treat yeast infections. If you are scared or want to find out why she prescribed it, you can always call the doctors office and they or a nurse will call you back and answer any questions you have.

So I found out the hard way that I’m allergic to this warming edible liquid my boyfriend and I used. I got a yeast infection and treated it with Monistate 1. Not knowing at the time that the warming stuff is what caused the yeast infection the first time we used it again and this one got worse. Not only did it cause a yeast infection I now have little bumps (looks like severe razor burn) on my vagina. I went to Planned Parenthood and they gave me a pill to get rid of the yeast infection but didn’t say anything about the bumps. It is not a STD (i’ve been tested). The pill took away the infection by the end of that day but i’ve noticed it coming back. It has only been 2 days though. I just need some help trying to figure everything out. Im concerned with the razor burn like bumps on my vagina and why my body is producing so much yeast. Has anyone had this problem? If so, please help.

I used to get them all the time! Finally my doctor told me to wait at least 7 days between intercourse! He said all we were doing was passing it back and forth!
You can give a guy a yeast infection on his penis and he will have no visible signs of having it or will not even know he has it! A mans body will get rid of the infection on its own in about 7 days! If you do not wait chances are he could give it back to you and this just keeps happening!
A man can also take the Diflucan pill with no problem if you want to make sure it is gone and not take any chances!

These are very mild, but i notice i only get them a couple of daysafter fooling around with my husband- he does not have any infections down there- but he does have this flaky fingernail (it doesn’t look bad) but he said it was something from football he had years ago when he was injured, and had a nail infection.- i saw images of this and it described it as the same yeast infection as the one that can grow in the vagina (sorry so graphic) Is it possible that it can be transfered from his fingernail to me? I also know that a yeast infection isn’t usually caused by intercourse. The gyno pushes off the ifection like they are no big deal- like it’s common Argh!
the yeast infection he has is not on his penis- it is under his fingernail- he had it before i knew him. He is otherwise so healthy- hasn’t had a cold or a stomachachein 8 years- lucky bastard!

I wouldn’t have him putting that particular finger down there where the yeast infection is.
A yeast infection can be passed back and forth. Use the 7-day cream and have sex during the treatment, it will help him, if he has a yeast infection too.
A lot of times, a man won’t know he has the infection.

I’m 16 weeks pregnant and it seems like i’ve had a yeast infection on and off from when I first found out I was pregnant. At first they put me on a anti biotic for what they thought was a bladder infection, and then the symptoms turned more towards a yeast infection. So they put me on a cream for that, which helped but didn’t totally cure it. It seems like it will go away for a week and then come back the next. Its been tolerable but its starting to get bad again and I dont understand why anything isn’t helping it? Could I have given it to my boyfriend & him not know it, and we keep giving it back to each other? (I wasn’t aware men could get yeast infections until recently) Do they show symptoms? Or is there any other infection that could cause yeast like symptoms? Or does pregnancy give these kind of symptoms?! I’m so frustrated and worried!! Help!

id get you and your boyfriend treated as yes you can pass it on i suffered with it all threw my pregnancy and live yoghurt does help

My daughter has been suffering from recurring yeast infections for about a month now. It comes and goes and lately it’s been more coming… it’s actually very bad right now. She’s 2, and it’s horrible to hear her complaining about it itching and hurting down there. She’s also terrified of the bath. I’m doing everything I can, Nystatin, nakedness as much as possible, baking soda in tub, very frequent diaper changes, etc. but honestly I think the only thing that will cure it completely is potty training…. which is not happening right now, to say the least. I’ve been trying to feed her plain yogurt with fruit mixed in it and she is not having it. What other kind of yogurt is appealing to them and also good for yeast infections? I suffer from them myself often and I take acidophilus every day. Can I give it to her? How should I administer it and how much? I have the 1 billion capsules, I take 4 a day. Is it possible to make a paste with the acidophilus and water and put it directly on the rash? Any help appreciated, we are having such a hard time with this. Thank you.
I have been to the pediatrician, over and over. All they do is tell me to do what I’m already doing and give me another tube of Nystatin.. please read the question before answering. Thanks
I also bathe her every night, try to let her soak in the tub with baking soda for at least 10-15 minutes..

They have acidophilus for kids, it comes in a powdered form that you mix with a drink. You can find it in the health food stores. You can give her the one you use, just open the capsule and mix it with a drink, i suggest getting the powdered form, it mixes much better. It is totally safe and you can and SHOULD give it to her. Since the nystatin isn’t working it is the only thing that will help get rid of the yeast she has in her body. She sounds like she has alot of yeast in her body since it keeps coming back and you need to treat it from within her body. Yeast infections come from the intestines so you need to give her the probiotics…acidopholus to get rid of it.
Stony field farms does have a pro biotic yogurt, not sure how much pro biotic is in it. I would use that yogurt an give the acidophulis, you may want to think about keeping her on it long term. I asked my regular pediatrician about probiotics and she said…they can’t hurt!!!
Im not sure but i think a bath every night may not be the greatest thing to do. If you feel she needs it or soaking makes it better make sure she is TOTALLY dry before putting her diaper back on, use a hair dryer on the cool setting to make sure it is dry. Change her often, moisture makes yeast infections much worse.

I have never had a yeast infection up until around a week and a half ago. Symptoms seemed like a yeast infection with the strange cottage cheese like discharge, no crazy smell. So I just did a one day treatment and it went away. But i did sort of have a strange smell in my urine that has been there for a while (not sure how long, a month or two?)… and also a slight discomfort, not really a pain in my lower abdominals…kind of like light, minimal cramps but it just stays there as a discomfort sometimes. I am having the symptoms again, and have scheduled to see my dr. tomorrow morning. But is there anything else this could be besides a yeast infection? Also, there is burning sometimes during sex. Could this be a bacterial infection, or a type of STD? Or is it true you can get lots of yeast infections if you are pregnant? any ideas would just help so i can reseach further and give as much information to my dr.

you need to go see a doctor, because if this is reoccuring and it doesn’t get attention then you would be asking for some serious problems in the future(infertility), especially if it isn’t a yeast infection.

This would be my 3rd yeast infection i got one every month i dunno why but anyone know? i mean i had foreplay on august 24 and i got my period late i dunno maybe due to stress bcuz i was so worried dat i might be preg but i wasnt, but before i got my period i got an yeast infection, den in october i got one before my period too and den now im starting to have one again…any reasons??????

Yours seem to be hormone related. Some women have that when it comes to yeast. Make sure you eat yogurt with active cultures every day. Talk to your doctor to see what can be done. Normally they don’t last too long and aren’t too bad if they’re hormone related but you might not want to take a drug that you can become resistant to. Talk to your doctor first. Some women douche with vinegar and water at that time just to ease the itch. While douching is bad if you do it a lot, again talk to your doctor because I’ve heard of that being okay for some women.

I have been having recurring yeast infections for several years now. I have tried everything like Monistat, Diflucan, yogurt, drinking more water, eating less sugar ,less alcohol and nothing works. I get an infect about once every three weeks .It is so annoying. It is definetly a yeast infection and not anything else. My gyno has confirmed that several times. He said some people just have large amounts of yeast in their body.I read about taking acv daily.I have an infection now and I used a Diflucan about 3 days ago , in addition to that I have been drinking 2 teaspoons in water daily for about 5 days. My yeast infection appears to be getting worse. Does ACV really work for this purpose and is there something better? Please help me.. Please , no ignorant answers! Thanks

I had many of the symptoms of candida overgrowth, so I did a candida cleanse. helped me a lot!!

i get yeast infections about once a month, what is the cause, i drink soda daily, my vagina is always burning i dont know what it is, i take vitamins to try to prevent them, any ideas to prevent them or what the causes are?

Are you sure it is a yeast infection? Many std’s have similar symptoms but won’t go away with the over the counter yeast medicine. The only thing that usually causes one is having been on antibiotics in which case taking acidophalis, or eating yogurt while on them will prevent it or sleeping with the same guy who is a carrier and keeps giving it to you. Go to your doctor since this is a reacurring problem it is probably one that needs a prescription to clear it up, then you will also have to have BF treated also.Vitamins do not prevent std’s.

About a month ago, I was diagnosed with a yeast infection.
It took forever (ok, maybe only a week and a half) to get rid of it! I tried everything.
I went to the doctor when it was full blown but she thought it was a UTI and gave me antibiotics….a week later she called and told me it was a yeast infection (THANKS! after its gone!).
I wasn’t actually have sex at the time — I was a virgin and there was just a lot of foreplay. But about two weeks ago, we actually had sex…since then, we’ve done it a lot and I knew to use a ton of lubricant and pee before and after, keep it dry, et becaues I read that it can cause yeast infections. BUT lo and behold….I got a UTI.
I didnt go to the dr right away and they told me that if I’d had one, it was passed. WELL yesterday, I realized…I now have a yeast infection. This is the 2nd one in two months. I don’t want to go to do the dr because she’s incompetant! I took monostat last night, but I’m still miserable. What do I do?
It is the same guy, yes, and he doesn’t seem to be having any problems whatsoever.

I’ve been doing all of your advice, including not having sex, but it still is extrmely itchy and it stings when i pee. i have a doctors appointment next week.

Your sex partner is an asymptomatic carrier of the yeast and bacteria he is passing on to your during foreplay and sex. This means his penis/ genitals carry the bugs that are causing you misery, but he has no symptoms to show for it.

For UTI, you MUST see a doctor or it has a good chance of spreading up to the kidneys, which could be life-threatening. For the painful pee’ing, ask your Pharmacist for the 100mg Pyriduim pills. Take 1-2 tablets every 8 hours. These are especially for UTI bladder/pee’ing pain. You still need an antiibiotic from your doc to get rid of the UTI, however. By all means, switch docs if you feel the current one is incompetant.

Your boyfriend and you both, at the same time, must erradicate the yeast infection or you two will be re-infecting each other all the time. You should buy the 7 day treatment. Monistat is a good product but if this becomes a chronic thing, there are prescription strenngth alternatives like Diflucan. Probably a good idea for both of you to see the doc at the same time to resolve this back-and-forth yeast issue, and have him use a condom each time until both or you are STD free and know how to have hygenic sex.

Lastly, make sure you and he educate yourselves about HYGENIC foreplay and sex. Both of you should use antibacterial soap and shower just before having sex/foreplay, and right after. Make sure the genitals are super clean.

Make sure he does not use the same hand and fingers he uses on your vagina, for your anus or his penis/genitals. Avoid oral sex and anal play and use proper cleaning, storage and hand/finger useage if using sex toys. It is unacceptable for the woman to be getting STD’s and UTI’s from having sex – he must respect this issue and never use his hand/fingers for vaginal stimulation for anywhere else. Rough sex (painful) also causes injury and damage to the vagina and that’s why infection starts so easily. Do not have painful sex!

Hope this helps, be safe~
