Recurring Yeast Infections Archives

Just about every month, my gf gets a yeast infection. This has been ongoing for a while and we arent quite sure what is causing it. This is what we know:

-No STD’s (have both been tested repeatedly)
-Birth Control (Ive heard these pills can do it, but some Dr’s say absolutely not)
-Antibiotics or OTC treatments dont work well at all

I hate to see her in pain and it puts a damper on our sex life. We are pretty much baffled as to what is causing it. She doesnt always wear super tight jeans/underoos or stay in wet bathing suits like most sites say is the cause. Should she switch birth control brands? Any ideas would be really helpful…thanks!
She has been to the Dr many times over this and despite their suggestions/treatments…it is still ongoing.
And no, we dont have poor hygiene, etc so please stray from answers along those lines…
It is possible that we could be passing it back and forth….

As for the antibiotics, the only ones she took were the ones prescribed after seeing the doctor regarding the infection.

We dont use condoms.

She used to eat yogurt and drink cranberry juice alot and it seemed to help prevent them, but she doesnt fancy that stuff too much.
Yes, we both pee after sex ^.^

It is possible that you two are passing it back and forth. Are you waiting long enough for the infection to clear up?

This might be a personal question, but does she go to the bathroom (pee) after you two have intercourse? If not, that could be the cause of the infections.

If yogurt and cranberry juice helped then she should be doing that. A vitamin that has those ingredients in them would also help.

If her doctor is not giving any advice, she needs to find a better doctor!

Last year I had a full blown one, got meds for it, went away. Recently, I have minor ones, rarely itches, just a lot of discharge that smells funky. It goes away within a few days. My bf recently noticed he got symptoms too, kinda itchy, red, etc. We’re afraid we passed it back and forth to each other. Is it a yeast infection or could it be an STD? I got a STD test a few months back that was negative, but haven’t got one recently.

It means that because you eat too much sugar, pop, etc, you have an over growth of yeast in your system..You need to do something about it..Start researching ways to get rid of candida

I am 16 weeks along and my boyfriend leaves me almost every week, my question is could he be causing me to have recurring yeast infections by sleeping with someone else while hes gone? Ive had quite a few yeast infections and they seem to happen after he gets back when we have sexual intercourse

It’s possible, but not likely. Yeast infections are very common in pregnancy. It’s probably nothing more than that. However, it is actually possible that HE has a yeast infection. I know it sounds crazy, but it can happen, and if he’s not treating it, he just keeps giving it back to you. If you are afraid that your boyfriend is cheating, it creates a whole new set of problems. Some infections and std’s can be VERY harmful to your baby. If you think it’s possible that he is, you should stop sleeping with him and talk to your doctor. Good luck.

I haven’t taken her to a doctor. It’s a yeast infection because diaper rash creme didn’t help, and it’s extremely itchy. I tried yeast infection cremes on her, and that helped instantly. So, I know that is what it is, I’m just frusterated because it keeps recurring.

Things You’ll Need:

* Mineral oil
* Measuring spoons
* Mixing bowl
* Cornstarch
* Zinc oxide
* Triple antibiotic ointment
* Yeast infection cream
* Air tight plastic container

Step 1:
Measure 1 tspn. of mineral oil using a measuring spoon. Pour into a bowl to begin the process of making diaper rash cream. Mineral oil can usually be found in the health and beauty section of your local supermarket.

Step 2:
Combine the 1 tspn. of mineral oil with 2 tspns. of cornstarch. Mix these two until they have turned to paste. Cornstarch can be found in the baking section of your grocery store.

Step 3:
Stir into the bowl 2 tspns. of zinc oxide, 2 tspns. of a triple antibiotic ointment and 2 tspns. of a yeast infection ointment. The yeast infection ointment is optional. Mix all of these ointments in with the paste until blended into a cream. These ointments are typically found in the health and beauty sections of local retailers.

Step 4:
Store the diaper rash cream in an airtight plastic container for future use. Apply directly on baby’s bottom as needed to help fight diaper rash.

What can he take to get rid of it?

Buy some over the counter yeast infection medicine(cream) and have him rub it on himself for a few days,it will kill the fungi he keeps giving back to you. Good luck!

About a year and half ago I started getting yeast infections every 3 months. Every time I went to the doctor, they just said it was a normal occurence for sextually active women, but that still didn’t put my mind at ease.

I’m not sure what has changed, but I’m not getting them as often — \now about every 5 months. Still, I worry if this will have some negative implications for when I want to have children in a few years.

Does anyone know what causes this? How "normal" is it really? Does this mean that there is something more serious wrong with me?

a sugar imbalance in your body. Go have some blood and urine labs done. This is a symptom of HIV and Diabetes.

I looked into vulvadynia, and it seems very possible. This is the first time the swelling has occurred, but since I’ve had my daughter 16 months ago, I’ve had at least 5 yeast infections (Or at least the symptoms of a yeast infection). The past 2 weeks, I would start to feel like I was getting another one, and then it would just go away. Since I’ve been using monostat 7, it’s gotten worse and the swelling started, also, another thing that makes me wonder if it’s vulvadyina, I just added sugar back into my diet recently, and that can trigger flare ups, from what I’ve heard.

Have you considered that (if you are having sex that is) your partner might have it too and be re-infecting you?
Maybe he needs treated because men don’t usually show symptoms . Try that first before you think it’s something more

You could be dealing with something like bacterial vaginosis (an example only) which can sometimes be connected to vulvodynia.

The only way to know for sure what is going on is to see your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they say.

so i keep getting yeast infections(ive been to the doc. and been treated but keep coming back) i am not overweight, never had an std had blood work done for ALL stds my vaginal discharge has been completely normal with the excpetion of getting treated for yeast infections, my boyfriend doesnt evel ive in the dame state so sex is outta the question so its not being passed back and forth so…? i wear like 95%percent cotton panties, my genetics and family history have no diabetes, i use dove ultra sensitive body wash, i am OVERly hygienic, i dont eat bread,pasta, more than 2 times a week if that, dont drink anything but water, i truly think that my vaginal PH is screwed up big time!!! how do i go about testing for diabetes and has anyone (a WOMAN) had this problem before? i also get oral thrush and little bumps in my lower region that i have had tested and it is jsut yeast so im like a goddamn walking yeast producer!! any advice would be great!!

First, ask for a referral to a specialist. It might NOT be yeast, but a more insidious infection like BV (acts like yeast, but is actually a bacterial infection).

You need to find out what is going on. If your doctor is just treating the symptoms, patting you on your head and sending you on your way with out looking at a cause, it WILL keep coming back.

Are you exhibiting other symptoms of diabetes? Odd body odor, excess sweating, excess thirst and concurrent urination? These would by symptoms, which would need to be checked, but frankly I’ve not heard of a direct link between diabetes and yeast over-growth.

You DID say you’re "overly hygienic." Do you douche? If you do, STOP immediately. This could be causing it, as the practice throws off the natural pH balance and kills off all the "good" bacteria that keep yeast in check.

Sorry I can’t help more. DO get in to see a different doctor. There must be a reason for the problem.

First time was about 4-5 weeks ago, took diflucan, went away for a week. Felt itchy again the following week, used monistat 3, but it only made it worse, burning, itching. Went away for a week, had sex w/ condom and now it is itchy/burning again when I pee. I am on my period now and the GYN said they can’t do much when I’m on my period and to let the period "flow it out" and to use monistat, but no way am I gonna go that route again!

What to do? I bought vagisil and azo yeast pills to possible help? But why do I keep have recurring yeast infs? My GYN just said, "well some people just are more susceptible than others" Thanks that didn’t help me much GYNO!

Look up info on candida overgrowth. It may lead you to some possible answers. Candida is one of those controversial medical issues. Most doctors won’t deny the existence of candida overgrowth, but the importance of detecting and treating it varies within the medical community. Its usually something a natural doctor or a homeopath will deal with. Take the information with a grain of salt, but realize that it is something that most won’t dispute completely.

If you are frustrated with vagisil, etc. and want to try some natural methods of dealing with the problem at hand, I know of two that worked for many of my friends. You can try yogurt, applied topically, or just eat a lot more of it. If you are vegan/non-dairy, soy yogurt with the live active cultures works just as well. Women I worked with at a natural grocery store inserted garlic cloves (tie a string on and its just like a tampon) and this cleared up their infections very well. This did not work for me, but I was the only one I know that tried it that did not have good results. Eating more soy yogurt helped. Good luck whatever you do.
