Skin Yeast Infection Archives

Yes, you can get a yeast infection anywhere, especially if it’s humid and your skin is exposed to moisture for an elongated period of time. I got one under my arms and under my boobs once, my doctor had to give me a prescription to get rid of it. Yuck!

Antibiotics.

You had to taken it to the vet if you knew what it was.

I second the nystatin, although the powder works better for me.

I actually have a chronic skin yeast infection under my breasts. Its being caused by a medication, and theres not much I can do to get rid of it right now, but these are the things that helped…

THe nystatin, for one
Baby powder
gold bond powder
lotrimin (store brand ‘anti fungal creme’ is same thing and much cheaper)
I actually bought the monostat suppositories and broke open the capsul to spread on my skin a few times. Helps a little
I havnt been able to try it yet, but if you take a few drops of grapefruit seed oil mixed in about a cup of cool water it may help. Smooth it over skin with a cotton ball and let dry.
Keep skin as open to air as phsycially possible. IF it is in the fold of a skin, keep something cotten between the fold. I cant wear a bra right now because my skin is raw, so I am wearing cotton t shirts under everything. I then am using a robe tie to hold the shirt under the breast. If it is in the crease between your thigh and genital area, wear boxer briefs (the make them for girls too)

My friend is very large breasted, she has a terrible rash on her lower boobs and under the boob. It is very very red , sometimes it itches and sometimes very sore for her. It also smells terrible. I believe it is a yeast infection. She will not go to the doctor. I suggested gold bond powder but it has not helped. Any home cures for this? I told her to put tissue under her breasts to keep the skin to skin contact minimal and told her to keep it as dry as possible. Thats all I know what to tell her, so any suggestions might help.

Sounds like you are dead on. I have suffered with these in the summer from time to time. Keeping the area dry is #1, like you said. She also needs an anti-fungal cream. She can buy this over the counter. Your pharmacist can point out the best one. If that doesn’t help then she made need an oral medication like Diflucan. Occasionally creams are not enough and a few days of this medication can clear it right up!

my vag is seriously itchy, painful, … eeeeek!!!! Been taking pills for skin infection.. its better now…is this common??

It’s pretty common for antibiotics to cause yeast infections– the antibiotics kill the good bacteria in your vagina that keep the yeast from growing. Go to the doctor, he or she can prescribe a pill that will get rid of the infection in one dose.

after having unprotected sex I had a yeast infection 5 hours later and when I wip a small dot of blood (smaller then an egg) and at the end a small string of skin what does this mean?could I be pregnant?

See a doctor. You could have more to worry about than a yeast infection, which is bad enough.

No.
Yeast infection causes no swelling.
Bacterial infection such as cellulitis can do that.

Ok guys, Iam pretty sure I have dermatitus which is basically a yeat infection of the face and I have some mild acne. My skin also tends to be very prone to be dry. Im talking dry skin on my back, legs, arms, neck, you name it! My current diet consists of lots of breads, cereals, and dairy. My question, what is a good and somewhat "cheap" alternative. How is it possible to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner with no bread or cheese.

Ok, so realistically speaking, im probably still going to have a bowl of cereal and eat a sandwich, but I have got to cut down on it. Im going grocery shoping tonight…….Help!!!!!!!!!

P.S.- Im a martial artist (athlete) so I cant live off lettuce and tofu! lol….Even though I happend to like salads
anybody? somebody?
what are some vitamin E rich foods?

I had very bad bermatitus when I was younger. I took VIt E suppliments and ate Vit E rich foods and it cleared up. It was a wonder. I had dry skin patches all over my legs. It was terrible but the Vit E cleared it right up.

Vit e rich foods are:
Vegetable oils. Corn, canola, sunflower, sesame, cottonseed, peanut, rice bran, and palm oils.
Nuts – almonds, walnuts, peanuts, pistachios and hazelnuts.
Oil seeds, legumes and grains. Corn, lentils, wheat, rice, northern beans, chickpeas, Barley Grass. and oats.
Wheat germ oil Extracted from the germ of wheat, Wheat germ oil has been used since the ’20s as a vitamin E supplement. It offers a good combination of tocopherols plus tocotrienols.

can i give her benadryl? what about a oatmeal bath? I know this hurts her can someone plase give me some ideas.
Sincerly,
Kirsten

Yeast overgrowths are tricky. Benadryl or experiment with other antihistamines to stop the itching and oatmeal shampoos are usually soothing. If your vet has diagnosed yeast overgrowth do some research on line, there are natural products that will make her more comfortable but you’ll need to work with your vet. A friends dog had yeasty ears which were treated with a prescription from the vet. Good luck.

When my vet said my dog had flea allergies, she also said that he had a yeast infection, though didn’t help me out much with what to give him. She just said antifungal meds.. Is there any kind of human pills that can help, and maybe shampoo? I’ve read that there are certain things that help, but I’ve only been able to find it in a brand of dandruff shampoo. I can’t use creams because he’s got it damn near all over his body. So, any one got some suggestions for shampoo and oral medications? I know of one little ‘set’ I can buy online, but I can’t afford that.

Our vet uses Monostat or Lotrimin on skin yeast infections. He uses the Monostat on younger smaller dogs, but lets the older dogs use Lotrimin. I am not sure what chemical is actually in them, you can look up the ingredients to see.
There is an oral antifungal, but he doesn’t use it very often at all.
