I just asked a question, but a few smart people thought i didnt know what i was talking about…

Anyways…

I have been specifically told to stay well clear of any yeasty foods. I want to do anything to prevent this piercing from getting infected.. So how can i tell what foods contain yeast?
Is it on the label or something?

Thanks

Avoiding yeast isn’t going to prevent a piercing from getting infected. For those women who are prone to yeast infections, it may help marginally (at least in theory), although I’ve heard most say that removing sugar from their diets helps a lot more.

Yeast can be found in raised breads and some baked goods. Yeast is used to create the air bubble to give food it’s airy texture. Flat breads like pita or crackers typically don’t have yeast, but your regular store bread does. Some baked goods do as well (cakes, sweet buns etc), but read the ingredients to be sure. It will appear as ‘yeast’ or ‘active yeast’ on the ingredients list.

That’s odd, yeast is fed by sugar not salt so I’m not sure why you were told to not use salt.
You do need to cut out mushrooms, most dairy and sugary foods from your diet though. I’ve taken garlic for a while now and it seems to work better than anything else for me.
Here is a link that might answer some of your questions.

I understand the diet except the breads.Does white self rising flour have yeast. Are there other ready made breads on the market. If it says gluten free is that the same as yeast free?very confusing..Need some simple recipes and meal plans.Fatigue and muscle pain makes it hard to bake alot. Thanks for any information..

Hi Ziffy,
No yeast is not the same as gluten. Gluten is a protein found in some grains whilst yeast is actually a fungi.
You’ll often find yeast and gluten together in bread products because they allow the bread to rise and keep shape.

You need to look for specifically yeast free products and recipes. Perhaps you should ask the same question in the ‘food and drink’ and ‘diet and fitness’ section to get some good recipes and advice for cooking without yeast, but here are a few sites I’ve found:

Many of the health claims made on this type of yeast-free websites are unproven nonsense (for example their detox claims), so always listen to your doctor’s advice before believing things you read! If you’re still confused be sure to go back to your doctor for clarification.
Best of luck, hope it works out for you :)

Is anyone following the Erica White Diet for beating Candidiasis/ Candida and have some success stories to share with me? (Or anyone else’s yeast free diet plans that are out there.) I’ve been following the diet strictly with supplements for 7 weeks and would love to hear any stories!

For three years I have been following a strict diet which is both gluten-free and anti-candida. I would never have imagined that I would be able to turn my back so easily on sugar, yeast, most flour, coffee and tea (except for herbal tea), cow’s milk, even fruit.

Yet, with the help of special recipes and vitamin supplements I have managed it. It has not been an altogether smooth ride – a year ago we realized that all our indoor house plants had to go and immediately I felt the benefit of that.

But little by little I have gained weight and energy and I am still able to maintain a busy Christian ministry in inner city Hackney. I look forward to further progress, even to returning one day to eating fruit.

So I give thanks to God, to ‘Operation Erica’ and to my understanding and long-suffering wife.

I have recently found out that asthma can be linked to Yeast in the diet. Is this true and has anyone out there tried this. And how do I find good recipes for a yeast free diet. Someone please help!!

I have asthma and find that Red Wine can be a trigger, as can beer (very rarely). I don’t think it is the yeast, though.

I eat a helluva lot of Marmite and it has never once set off my asthma.
