My lab/GSD mix had a very large yeast infection, on his neck, in his ears, chest, between the toes, and all over his flanks/belly/back legs, so I put him on Omega 3&Omega 6 Fatty Acid pills and started spunging him with apple cider vinegar/water mixture, and WOW. 10 hours ago we put the ACV mixture on him, and his ears were very inflamed, red, etc. I look now and his whole right ear is CLEARED of the yeast infection(left one was worse, healing but a little slower). Just a heads up for people with yeast infections on there dog, this stuff works! But my question is, how often should I be putting this on him? The source I got this remedy from wasn’t very precise on how often. I’ve also heard that putting white vinegar in his food will help out a lot, is this true?
I’ve used apple cider vinegar In my dogs water everytime I change It and that’s sometimes twice a day. I use a couple of tablespoons,mix It In.

You’ve managed to breast-feed for a month, it might be a good time to move your baby to the bottle. You could still pump yourself for a while longer, and perhaps just not actually being nursed will help the healing process.
Don’t like the sound of this sore/blister you speak of. How large are we talking, and has your doctor seen it?

Yes he could be carrying it, particularly if he isn’t circumcised. In men, it’s called smegma and is much more easily treated than in women, for obvious reasons. He has to use soap and water, move the foreskin back and clean the glans and fold of skin. An antibiotic cream wouldn’t hurt, either. You need to take your own preventive measures. Next time you get ready for sex, skin his foreskin back and sniff it. If you wouldn’t put it in your mouth, don’t put it where you can’t rinse and spit.

Do you mean the yeast infection commonly known as thrush? It can infect any moist dark area of the body, mainly mucous membranes, ie genital area, anus, mouth and both males and females can get it. It usually makes it’s presence known by causing itching, which can be severe in the genital area, it is sometimes accompanied by a sweet musty odour – oral thrush tends not to itch but leave a thickish white sometimes speckled appearance on the tongue and sometimes patches on the inside of the cheeks, (which I am guessing – and this is only a guess leads to its name, thrush after the bird with the speckled white breast) and can be a little sore or burny, but not usually itchy or very painful, but does indicate infection through the digestive system and is best dealt with as it is infectious.
It can heal, but usually needs attentions, ie won’t go away on it’s own, keep areas clean but p.h. balanced…. don’t use strong detergents, antiperspirants etc there until it is cleared up, sweet foods exacerbate it, and this is one of the reasons diabetics seem particularly prone to it (their urine is sweet), wear natural ‘breathable’ fabrics in the areas where relevant to reduce excess moisture where possible.
However the main way to ‘heal’ it if you are not adverse to medical intervention is over the counter preparations, in the uk canesten is the most used brand, you can take it as a tablet as a one off treatment, or with cream and or pessaries if the problem is particularly itchy and annoying to clear it up faster.

I will be honest up front I’m not sure about the Activia (although I imagine it’s safe) but ask your provider to be sure..As for the itchies,so long as you KNOW it’s a yeast infection, yes it’s safe to treat but my doc always recommended the 7-day treatment…I know it’s a pain to do for a whole week, but it’s gentler than the 1 and 3 day kinds.

For those who have answers and not guessers. I not sure if I have thrush. My tongue gets a white coating on it,( but no sores, soreness or bleeding, patches as listed as symptoms). As soon as I brush and scrape it, the pink color returns. The whole tongue turns white, not in spots. I am hoping to find a good mouth wash to eliminate this. I know for thrush a prescription mouthwash of Nystatin is available. Yet, there are no yeast symptoms except the color turns. And the cheeks of my mouth are nice and clear.
I have no white or grey patches in my mouth (gums, roof of mouth, inside cheeks), nor any raised or hard lesions.
I don’t think it sounds like thrush at all, try stopping all dairy for a while and see if that doesn’t clear it up. Milk tends to coat the tongue. Also drink lots of water, being dehydrated can make it worse.
