Yeast Infection Home Remedy Archives

I’m pretty sure my girl has a yeast infection – she has been violently scratching her right ear, flipping her head frantically too – since last night… in fact, she slept on my bed and kept me up most of the night doing so…

I looked at it this morning, and I don’t notice anything significantly differant about that ear, except some reddish wax… it also doesn’t have a significant smell.
In any case, I took some vinegar and swabbed her ear out with Q-tips… I also tied the ear open with all the hair she has, so that it has airflow.
For the moment she is being still and not scratching, because I keep telling her to "lay down" and "leave it"… but it won’t last long….

Please don’t persecute me for asking for a home remedy – my parents just spent $300 at the vet on a dog who got a blockage, and they aren’t about to spend anymore on something like a yeast infection unless it gets really bad, and it seems to be in the very beginning stages right now, so I think I can catch it.

Thanks guys!

Without a significant smell, I doubt it is a yeast infection. The symptoms sound more like ear mites. Look more closely and see if there are any tiny black specks, if so, that is the problem. You can get an over the counter remedy from most pet stores for under $10.

I would recommend using Naturvet brand tea tree oil ear wash. The tea tree oil is a natural antibiotic and will help clear up any infection (though prescription antibiotics will work faster and be much more effective). You mentioned you tied your dogs ear open with some of the fur, I would assume that your dog has naturally flappy ears that have closed. If so, regular cleaning with a quality ear cleaner will stop any future problems. Dogs with long flappy ears are more prone to ear infections.

Another symptom to look for is an oily coat. If your dog has excessively oily skin, or has a dirty dog smell even after a bath, the problem could actually be a reaction to an ingredient in their food. If your dog has these symptoms, look for wheat corn or soy in the food. If it is there, find a food without these ingredients. There are plenty of great foods on the market that do not use these ingrediens, but you won’t find them at big box stores. You will need to go to a locally owned pet store with employees that actually know about the product they sell. You will want a grain free, or at least wheat, corn and soy free dog food. Natural Balance has an excellent line of called L.I.D. It stands for limited ingredient diets. They have one protein source and one carbohydrate source.

As an aside, I am also prone to ear infections and use the Naturvet tea tree oil ear wash on myself. It works wonderfully.

i have a chocolate lab who has been treated several times for a ear infection. the vet seemed to think it was a mite infection, and when treated with medicine, the systems did not go away. After doing some one line research, i have come to the conclusion that it is in fact a yeast infection. However i can not currently budget taking my dog to the vet and wondered if there were any home remodys to help limit the problem for the next week or so until i can get him to the vet. side note: he also scratches his ear alot and seems to have cut his inner ear in the process, how bad will this counteract with the yeast infection?

I have found the best way to treat a yeast and/or bacteria is a solution my vet told me to use. It is 50% white vinegar and 50% rubbing alcohol. I put it in a small squeeze bottle and squeeze it into the ear then use baby wipes to wipe out the ear. The cut will be irritated by the solution and you can use a neosporin type cream on that. Try to do it b4 he goes on a walk to limit the scratching.

Douching with Acidophilus milk at room temperature can be quite effective. Also, microwaving your underwear for very short bursts–like 5 to 8 seconds will kill yeast spores. Be careful to not cook your underwear!!!

I keep seeing information about the stopping of the itching, but none about the discharge. Does this stop as soon as the other symptoms are gone?

wear no undies to bed and wear loose fitting cotton clothing during the day, also put some natural yogurt on a tampon and insert (plain natural yogurt not flavoured or fruity!!!

yes.a few years ago a pharmacist at wal mart introduced me to a vitamin called<acidophilus>.take one aday for aweek.yeast infection be gone.i promise you will love it!!!

Have you tried acidophilus capsules? They are pretty inexpensive, about $6.oo for a bottle of 100 at CVS Parmacy. Walmart has tablets. Take 2 caps 3 times aday. In worst cases, you can insert the gel-cap like you would a vaginal suppository. Yes, they really work!!!

Soo…yeah. I’m pretty sure i have a yeast infection and i need something that i already have at home to use because i can’t go out and buy something cuz i’m broke…and i can’t go to my mom with this because she’s the kind who makes mountains out of mole hills and she’ll flip out and automatically think it’s something serious and take me to the gyno or something and find out i’m not a virgin and she’s really religious and believes in abstinence soo if she finds out i’ve had sex i’ll get kicked out and my life will be over.

so yeah. anyway does anyone have any advice? pleeeeeease help me out here? it’s itchy and really bothering me.

((if you go to the gyno there is no real way they can tell your a virgin or not. if hymen is broken, it broke during sports. Unless you dont use a condomn and had sex before going to gyno they might be able to tell.))

Are there any home remedies for a yeast infection?
i really dont want to go to the doctor this is really embarrasing to me.
PLEASE HELP

Plain yogurt

The good bacteria in plain yogurt helps fight yeast and yogurt can be used both internally and externally. BUT, be sure you buy plain, unsweetened yogurt. Since sugar feeds yeast, this is a crucial point. You can also make your own, using a yogurt starter. I have done this myself and it is simple and the results are quite good. The advantage is that you can use other types of milk, such as soy or almond. While I made mine directly on the stovetop, you can also purchase a yogurt maker, if you want to take the thinking out of the process. Whether purchased or homemade, yogurt is a great thing to eat before meals because it provides "good bacteria" for your stomach to aid in digestion.

For a topical treatment, you can also dip a tampon in plain yogurt and insert it into your vagina or simply rub some on the outside. I have found, however, that leaving it on for a prolonged period tends to have the opposite effect. It seems that once it has done its job, it is best to wipe it off or you will feel itchier due to the moisture.

Garlic

Garlic is a big enemy of yeast! This is one of the most effective home remedies I have found for instant relief. Inserting one garlic tab (such as Shaklee’s Garlic Tabs) or a garlic clove into the vagina every few hours or as needed provides soothing relief. If you use garlic tabs, be sure the ingredients are natural and pure. I highly recommend the Shaklee garlic tabs. They are what I have always used with great results.

Of course, garlic can be taken internally, as well. Again, the Shaklee garlic tabs work great. I have also used Kyolic garlic tabs and liquid in the past with good results. Or, if you don’t mind the smell, you can press a whole garlic clove and drink it down quickly with water. I have found this to be very effective. Do it as often as necessary.

Garlic is one of nature’s amazing "drugs" that has a number of other health benefits, including lowering blood pressure and reducing bad cholesterol. It is a natural antibiotic. In fact, my Greek father-in-law eats raw garlic everyday and, in his mid-sixties, is very rarely sick.

Apple-cider vinegar (with the mother)

Apple-cider vinegar has many health benefits (including aiding in weight loss) and can be used both internally and externally, as well. However, it is very strong, so it is not recommended that you apply it directly on the skin. It will kill the yeast, but it will burn like nothing you’ve ever felt! The best external application is to add about a cup of it into your bathwater and take a nice hot bath. This will feel very relaxing and soothing and will help temporarily. I don’t find it as effective long-term, however, as the garlic suppositories. They provide full-day relief.

The type of vinegar I recommend is Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar, with the Mother. It is important that it have the mother, as this is more natural and less processed. Never use plain, white vinegar! This actually feeds the yeast instead of killing it.

Apple cider vinegar can be used as a home remedy for many ailments.

Water

In my opinion, this is one of the world’s most powerful, secret remedies for any illness! I strongly believe that if we all drank the amount of water our bodies need, we would see a great reduction in all types of sicknesses.

Most doctors say that we should drink at least eight 8-oz. glasses of water daily, but many people need even more than that. I have found that simply drinking enough water greatly reduces my likelihood for getting a yeast infection. Because I am drinking more water, and subsequently urinating more frequently, my body is able to flush out the sugars that feed the yeast.

Be sure to drink water that is pure and free from toxins. It is best to purchase some type of water filtration system, such as one made by Shaklee. Other brands that are good are the Brita and PUR brands. Be sure that regardless of what system you purchase, you do your research first to be sure that it will be effective in its performance.

If you do only one thing, drink more water. It’s easy, accessable, natural, and has no side effects!

Oil of Oregano

This is an amazing herb! It is very potent against yeast. Take it internally daily, according to directions. Be sure, also, that the type of oil you choose has a high carvacrol content, as this is the active ingredient. I recommend Oreganol Super Strength P73.

Beneficial bacteria supplement

A healthy body contains trillions of microoragnisms, most of which reside in the colon. Their main function is to provide balance for less-desirable organisms (such as yeast). I use Shaklee Optiflora to help maintain these probiotics and prebiotics in my intestines. I have used other products in the past, but have not found that their level of quality matched this product’s. Other products can only gaurantee a certain amount of organisms at manufacture. However, Shaklee gaurantees that the bacteria will be alive when you ingest it and be delivered to the intestines. So, at this point, I can only suggest their product.

Solutions-4-You

This is a botanical, non-toxic multi-purpose solution that can be sprayed directly onto the skin. It is extremely soothing on a yeast infection and is effective at killing yeast. I use it straight from the bottle, without diluting it. I find it works best that way, but please be aware that this is not how the company recommends using it. It can be purchased at this site: http://www.solutions-4-you.com.

Here are some things that you should try to avoid when fighting a yeast infection:

Taking birth control pills – Birth control pills weaken the immune system, making you succeptable to yeast.

Taking antibiotics – Antibiotics also weaken the immune system.

Douching – Douching can upset the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina.

Feminine deodorants – These can be very irritating to anyone, especially those with yeast infections.

Non-cotton underwear – Any underwear made of man-made fibers is not breathable, as cotton is. They trap moisture and heat, creating a perfect environment for yeast.

Clothing that is tight in the crotch – Tight clothing also creates a warm environment for yeast to grow.

Sitting in a wet bathing suit for a prolonged period – This creates not only a warm environment, but a moist one, as well. Perfect for yeast growth!

Pantyhose – Tight, man-made fiber that also allows yeast to flourish.

Foods that feed yeast – Avoid sugar, yeast, refined foods (such as white flour). See our list of food to eat and avoid when you have candida.

Just interested in the best home remedies for candida( yeast) infection. I was told plain yogourt, any others?

cleanliness & good airation.

My friend did some research and found out she had a yeast infection. She’s to ashamed to go to the doctor but,she would like to know how can sure cure it without prescription or over-the-counter medicines. So does any one have any home remedies she could use?

Put yogurt there. Like the natural kind without any sugar at least once a day but preferably two. Make a warm salt bath water and sit in it for a while. Make sure she gets a lot of fresh air up there so no tight pants(and no synthetic fabrics. cotton is best) and limit sugar from diet completely. Yeast loves that sugar!
