Yeast Infection Medicine Archives

Is there any kind of pills for yeast infections, because i have one and i have tried to you the cream and pill aplicators. But i just can’t do it. Im 16 and im scared to put it up there. so is there any oral medicines or pill for yeast infections? if so please tell me.

There is but you have to get it from a doctor. They will want to check you first to make sure it isn’t a bacterial infection. They have the same symptoms.

I took some yeast infection medicine early monday morning (around 2 AM) and today I had sex (around 3PM). The instructions said something about not having sex because it can weaken a condom, but it didn’t give specifics on how long to wait. What are the chances it weakened the condom today?

i think you should be good! it has been about 36 hours…. i hope you have showered and all that good stuff so i think the medicine has worked its way to where it had to go and your condom should be good…

Oral antibiotics stop your pills from being effective, not vaginal creams. You’re fine. BUT, do not have sex while on a vagina cream because you need to let the medicine work, and it keeps working even after you’ve showered the next morning…

I really need to know,,never had one before

Diflucan ~ now this is by prescription, wherein Vagisil is for the itching more than anything…also "Australian tea tree oil" in a tepid bath ..now i know many who have tried this,….but remember it is what i have been told…that as far as homeopathy is the ticket for what i know….i would call your physician…i have NEVER had a doctor make me come in for the Diflucan…which is often onset by antibiotics..in fact often when i have had antibiotics, i get the RX for diflucan at the same time…tho it isn’t always needed….there..that is what i know..and i may not have your perfect answer…but…that is the best i can do…also look up Edgar Cayce’s clinic on line …the place i went to was in Arizona when i lived there and there are elixirs to douche with that are clean, fresh and they are extremely healing,…i had forgotten that one ~ i wish you the best! Thank You…..hope it gets better soon…..until yo have the yeast part of the bacterial infection under control use vagisil and panty liners…for vagisil is a topical and nothing to insert…what it does is numb the intchy part of yor perineum…be well….and oh i loathe these things too! take care….

Last night I used the walmart brand one day yeast infection medicine. I woke up just now, and my vagina is so swollen and hurts more than it did before i took the medicine. It’s so swollen that my labia..or whatever its’ called, is rubbing my panies everytime i walk and that hurts reallyyy bad. How can i get the swelling to go down? Will ibuprofen work? Why is it doing this??! Please help. And suggestions for me to do would be great!

You could be allergic to the medication, but most likely it’s the one-day that is your problem. One day yeast infection meds are really strong, which makes sense because they pack all the medicine into one week. Does it itch at all, or only hurt? Either way, you should at least call a doctor or pharmacy to see if this is something they’d advise a doctor’s visit for. More than likely, it’ll go away on its own quickly. It shouldn’t HURT to take ibuprofen, but be careful. It might help the swelling and pain, but it isn’t a replacement for medical care. Good luck!

My OB/GYN has told me to always get the monistat 7 day cream over the counter treatments…and even advised on going 10 days as when pregnant sometimes it takes longer to cure the infection….if the infection didnt go away after 10 days he said I should come in and then he would check and give a prescription for a stronger cream….you are not supposed to take diflucan when pregnant..he said we are very limited when pregnant as to treating yeast infections….so to answer your question…yes they are safe and recommended by doctors..

BTW: he did advise against the 1 day to 3 day treatments as they are less likely to cure a yeast infection during pregnancy

I KNOW I HAVE A YEAST INFECTION ,BUT MY MOM IS NOT SURE IF I SHOULD STICK THE MEDICINE IN ME AT MY AGE BUT I WANT TO GET RID OF THIS FAST WITHOUT A DOCTOR LOOKING IN MY PRIVATE AREA.I WANT TO KONW ABOUT TAKING MONISTAT.

I would not use it if you have never been told by your doc that it is yeast infection or not.

I just used over the counter Monistat. I now have a bad buring sensation after urination and before. Could this be from an alergic reaction to the medicine? It makes me feel like I gave to pee all of the time.
Just went to the dr. got a urine test. It was indeed a UTI. Thanks for the help

That’s a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). You can take an antibiotic for that (you will need to see a doctor). You can also drink lots and lots and lots and lots of water and tea (esp. Chamomile tea). If you go to the pharmacy and ask for UroSept…that will get rid of it also–it’s not prescription and it is a pill. However, if you don’t take an antibiotic, the UTI can reoccur.
To prevent UTIs, don’t have sex when you need to pee (ie. mornings)…empty your bladder before having sex, make sure to always drink plenty of water, avoid sugar and alcohol, and don’t sit on cold surfaces, don’t stay in wet clothing long (ie. swimsuit).

I thought I was getting better the last couple days and today, I feel just as itchy. Do those one day medications work well? Should I get a seven or three day and start over? I hate yeast infections and it’s rare for me to get them. I am nursing my nine month old baby, and got my first period since before pregnancy at the same time the yeast infection started. I thought that was weird and even more uncomfortable. Does a period sometimes cause a yeast infection?

I would try the three day treatment. I never had success with the one day treatments. My ob/gyn had me do the 7 day treatment when I was pregnant and if it didn’t clear up do another seven days. That sucked! Also try wet tea bags on that area for itch relief. Sounds crazy but really works!

im taking pills for my birth control

if you take birth control pills, over the counter yeast infection meds wont hurt your birth control. no worries

goodluck
