If a man got a yeast infection could they pass it to their partner while having sex?
Are there any ways to get rid of it without going to the doctors?
Well since i had my son, my boyfriend and i have been passing it back and forth. I keep getting treated for it, and he was until he lost his health insurance.
Could i just buy Monistat and have him use the cream that it comes with, or should he use some triple antibiotic cream?
I have a doc’s appointment tomorrow, but i really don’t want to keep getting it again and again and again. Its a pain in the butt!!!
Hello Kasmira,
Yes, men can get it and it’s not as common as when it occurs in women, but it is probably due to deeper reasons than just having the yeast present.
Answering your question with the straight answer as fast as possible; yes, there is way to cure it without having to go to the doctor, and it seems to even be the better way. (as you will find in the source website linked below)
Yeast is present in EVERYONE, and it’s perfectly healthy; but when it overgrows, that’s when it becomes a yeast infection.
For men, the problem would usually be that the body is unable to fight the yeast infection, and it’s usually caused by other factors other than just being exposed to the yeast that you have – because a man’s resistance to yeast is usually strong enough to not have it grow.
Monistat only kills the yeast fungus directly and it doesn’t fix what caused it in the first place. In this case, it is his lowered resistance to the yeast fungus, and it would simply overgrow again and may even eventually develop a resistance to Monistat.
Once you fix the root cause, he won’t be the one spreading it to you anymore, because the yeast will not even be able to overgrow (into a yeast infection), and he won’t have it.
The website has all the details.
Additional note:
Antibiotics are actually listed as a CAUSE of the yeast infection, so it’s probably a no no. It is not the right cure for this in this case. That’s just a little tip in case you’re going to use that.
