Yeast Infection Men Archives

What does yeast infection in men look like?

Signs and symptoms of a male yeast infection include a reddish rash, itching or burning of your genitals.Fortunately, most male yeast infections are easily treated with an over-the-counter anti-fungal treatment, such as Monistat (yes, men can use it too). Apply the medication directly to the affected skin twice daily for a week. If the rash doesn’t go away, or if it recurs frequently, consult your doctor.

If you and your partner have symptoms of genital yeast infection, it’s important that you both be treated. Otherwise, you may keep reinfecting each other. Also, it’s generally recommended that you refrain from sexual contact until all signs and symptoms of the infection are gone.

Yeast infections occur in men for roughly the same reasons they do in women, except it’s "harder" for men to get yeast infections.

Men with diabetes or very poor hygiene are at increased risk of getting yeast infections. Also, men who have sex with women currently with a yeast infection are also at greater risk of getting a yeast infection themselves.

ok so I’ve had a yeast infection for a while now. I tried to treat it with monistat 1 then monistat 7. the symptoms went away so I figured the infection was gone. My boyfriend & I had sex about 2 weeks ago but not since then (we usually live about 2 hours apart so we don’t see each other very often) My doctor prescribed me diflucan to finally cure my yeast infection. My question is, how long after taking the diflucan should I wait to have sex again? I want to be finally rid of this stupid yeast infection so I don’t want to risk giving it to him then reinfecting myself or irritating my vagina anymore with sex. So how long should I wait after taking the diflucan pill before it’s safe to have sex? and also, if I had given the yeast infection to my boyfriend 2 weeks ago, would he still have it now or would his body have gotten rid of it naturally by now? I really want to be done with this infection once and for all!

1. Diflucan (I’m assuming you got the standard single dose here, right?) begins to clear the infection right away, but it can take several days to get rid of it all. I’d give it a week before resuming sex, personally, just to let yourself heal up.

2. The thing with yeast infections in males is that they can get them (although not as easily as you can) but they often don’t have any symptoms. If you had infected your bf two weeks ago, yes, he could still have it. It’s not a guarantee that he’d give it to back you or anything, but it’s certainly possible if you are prone to yeast overgrowth issues.

If so what are the symptoms? He says he only feels burning and itching. I keep telling him to go to the doctor but he says he wants to wait and see if it will go away. Its been a week. And he says he thinks his girlfriend had a yeast infection the last time they had sex and didnt tell him. It started itching and burning that same day.
Oh no, I didn’t sleep with him, this is my brother Im talking about.

It’s possible for a man to contract a genital yeast infection if he has unprotected sexual intercourse with a partner who has a genital yeast infection. However, just because your girlfriend has a yeast infection doesn’t mean you will get one too. Sexual transmission of yeast infections is uncommon.

Many people are under the impression that only women get genital yeast infections, but men get them too. Prolonged antibiotic use increases the risk of a yeast infection. Also, men with diabetes or impaired immune systems, such as those with HIV, are more susceptible to yeast infections.

Signs and symptoms of a male yeast infection include a reddish rash, itching or burning at the tip of the penis. I was just at the GYN doc today, complaining of frequent yeast infections. I asked her if my husband could have one, and be passing it back to me, and she said no, it is not sexually transmitted. So there you go. A man can have a yeast infection, but it doesn’t transmit back and forth.

Possible?
How… would one know?
Protected sex?

If a man has a yeast infection, he’ll have discharge from the penis, and it’ll be red, sore, and might have patches. He can get a yeast infection by having unprotected sex with a woman that has a yeast infection.

EDIT: Just rechecked the website, apparently "they can have a penile yeast infection without having symptoms." So, make sure you and your partner are honest with each other and STD free before having sex.

I want to tell my hunny that I have one but Idk how he will take it…do men get grossed out over yeast infections …its not like they are std’s

Not telling him you have a yeast infection is like letting him perform oral and not telling him you’re on your period.

I just got over this. I thought I was going to scratch the skin off my body, and my body was red for a few days after I started taking medicine.

I think he has a yeast infection.

Like a redheaded stepchild.
