Me and a couple of colleagues debate about this quite often. Can men get bacteria from a woman having a yeast infection and how is it treated? If it’s not treated can the partners give it back to each others?
Any sort of infection the woman has she can pass onto her partner if they aren’t using protection – bacterial vaginosis, yeast, UTI’s are all commonly passed back and forth between partners, but often the men can be symptom-free so they don’t notice. Yeast infection in a man would be treated a similar way to a woman, only where women shove garlic up their vagina’s as a home cure I wouldn’t advise that for men, normally you’d be looking at topical creams or even antibiotics depending on how bad things are, a lot of times if a woman’s infection clears up and they abstain from sex without condoms the man can be fine so no risk of it being passed back to his partner – men not having the same complex environment around their penis as women have within their vagina’s.
