Yeast Infection Problem Archives

I have tiny clumps of discharge in yellowish green coming out. My whole vaginal area itched soooo bad at first but these few days have gotten a whole lot better. I dont know if it’s a yeast infection of some bacterial infection. I heard that yeast infections sometimes have to do with hormones and I’ve been getting my period every other week! it’s driving me crazy I don’t know what’s going on. I think I’ve had this problem before and it eventually went away but I don’t know what it is!

Hello,

Unfortunately, this is not a yeast infection. As a nurse I can tell you that a yellowish green discharge is a symptom of another type of infection. It could be bacterial vaginosis, a very common infection and simple to cure with antibiotics. Or it could be an STD such as Gonorrhea or Chlamydia. Both easy to treat with antibiotics, but can cause long term complications if not treated. Please refrain from any sexual activity and see a gynocologist or a free clinic right away. All it takes is a simple test and it does not hurt. They can be found in the phone book.

Please dont hesitate to contact me if you have other questions.

Good Luck,
Angie R.N.

Couple months ago I went to a gynecologist and the doctor said I had Yeast Infection.
I bought the cream that came up with the tubes and I did exactly what I was asked to do.

The problem is that the Yeast infection keeps on coming back but not as worst as before but still very painful… what medicine is 100 % effective to cure it?

If it keeps returning you need a prescription strength medication. You also need to find out what is triggering the infection to return. Try not wearing tight pants and always wear cotton underwear. After showering dry well, but do not rub. Eat yogurt and try avoiding caffeine.

OK so Im 21 years old, I want to say ever since I was 13 I have been getting Yeast infections about 1 or 2 a month sometimes I wont get one one month. (12 months a year) So I have done everything in the book take off Swim suit as soon as possible, Don’t ware undies to bed, only ware cotton ones, only clean V once a day, eat yogurt, use special soaps, Dial, catis something, Cant spell the name lol, ummm after Sex go clean, yeast treatments over the counter. I’ve been to doctors 6 times a year about it and they just tell me im just one of those people, Ive been tested for Diabetes don’t have it.

I would look at how you clean yourself first of all, your mention of soap set off a few alarm bells, your vagina is self-cleaning, all you ever need to use on your vagina to stay clean is plain water, then use your hand to wash between your labia. Anything else – soap, washes, wipes, sprays, perfume, etc. will interfere with natural vaginal pH which in turn will throw off the natural balance of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria within the vagina causing vaginal infections such as bacterial vaginosis. This is also true of so-called ‘feminine’ products such as Summers Eve that play on women’s insecurities about vaginal scent and attempt to suggest vagina’s should smell like flower, just like anything else chemical these products aren’t good for vaginal health. Soaps also cannot tell the difference between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria, so will kill off both leaving your vagina open to infection, washing will also strip the vagina of essential fluids that are there as part of the self-cleaning functions which wash out excess ‘bad’ bacteria and dead cells and keep the walls of the vagina protected from damage, infection and disease. Soap, washes, wipes, sprays, perfume, etc. will contain a cocktail of different chemical ingredients, all of which potentially can cause sensitivity or allergic reactions, scented products can contain up to an addition 100 chemical ingredients. Many chemicals within commercial toiletry products are potentially harmful to long-term general health, as the vagina is made up of mucosa which is similar to skin but without it’s top protective layer it means that it is more prone to irritation and absorption of these harmful chemicals which can have a long-term affect on health of your body on the whole. On the whole using soap could be causing the problem over the long term.

Another major cause which many women are not aware of their choices in menstrual product, I suffered myself from constant yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis while using tampons and commercial pads. When I stopped using them and started using cups I stopped getting the infections and have been infection-free for the past six years, when I went into sexual health I learned why this was. Tampons are the most harmful option as they absorb vaginal fluids, leave fibres in vaginal walls, contain harmful chemicals, and encourage bacterial growth, risks associated with tampons are far more than TSS, they are a major cause of vaginal infections in women, as well as damaging the health of the vagina in general, commercial brands such as Tampax contain ingredients that have a similar affect on vaginal pH as soaps would thus have similar risks. Commercial tampons can also be a big issue, because they are made from synthetics they do not allow aeration thus making your vulva moist, warm and sweaty which is perfect for bacterial and yeast growth, furthermore chemicals within the pads will affect vaginal pH leading to further problems. You can lower the risk by switching to organic tampons or pads, if a tampon user you would totally eliminate the risks by switching to menstrual cups or softcups which are far safer and more hygienic, if a pad user you’d be better off with cloth pads, padded panties, or period belts.

Sex is another thing, you mention cleaning after sex but nothing about sexual activity or safety. Firstly do you use condoms? If so then condoms, spermicide or lubrication could be the problem, particularly if using anything containing the likes of Nonoxynol 9 which is notorious for causing problems – switching to different brands of condoms or different types such as those without this type of lubrication or made from different materials. I’m assuming you have been tested for STI’s that could be contributing to the problem, but lets say you don’t use condoms – semen can cause similar problems. Semen has a different pH to the vagina, so the sudden change in vaginal pH caused by semen within the vagina can throw everything off balance without giving the vagina a chance to get back on top of things and even itself out, thus infections can occur – this happens a lot with cases of bacterial vaginosis, some women also find certain partners cause more of a problem than others, so another idea is to use protection and get your current infection dealt with to see if it makes a difference. Yeast infections aren’t STI’s however can be passed back and forth between partners, just like bacterial vaginosis and urinary tract infections, so it may be worth looking down that path if you haven’t already. Also then the obvious issue – food in sex, anything sugary put down there will cause problems so lay off the whipped cream and chocolate sauce for now. Also yes look at diet, you may not be diabetic but you could be consuming too many refined sugars or alcohol!

There are many possibilities, it’s just a case of looking around until you find what may be the cause – yes some women do tend to be prone to it, but that’s a cop-out doctors give for a lot of women’s problems, they gave that answer to me when I had constant infections, yet I found the cause and dealt with it myself. I would recommend checking out some general women’s sexual health web sites and books, it certainly wouldn’t hurt even if you don’t find anything to help you with this problem, I would also recommend checking out natural living communities – seriously, most people think these guys are just hippies but they are a hell of a lot better educated than a lot of people on various subjects, I can pretty much guarantee you that they’ll be able to help. For example check out some of the entries here – http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=naturalliving&keyword=Women%27s+Health+-+Yeast+Infections/BV&filter=all

i had some itching but not anymore and it did burn to pee like last week but only a coulple times not anymore.. my pee is very yellow when i go wipe lots of pee comes on the toilet paper and i noticed a smell today at school that smelled like my vaginal area idk why.. so please helpppp

How much water are you drinking? Increase your water intake. Could be a UTI.

Swelling and pain around the vulva
Intense itching

Signs of bacterial vaginosis:
A white, gray or yellowish vaginal discharge
A fishy odor that is strongest after sex or after washing with soap
Itching or burning
Slight redness and swelling of the vagina or vulva

Is it possible for a yeast infection to cause light spotting and cramping? And, is it okay to use an over the counter treatment?

I do NOT know about the spotting and the cramping you should really get checked out there although you CAN have those and it be normal. Yes, the over the counter med. for the yeast infection is fine as LONG as you FOLLOW DIRECTIONS! BEST WISHES

I got a yeast infection from taking too many antibiotics as a teen. My main problem is a very itchy anus (sorry to say, but it’s true). I have a hard time with the yeast free diet (I tried it once for 3 weeks and my symptoms returned). This 3lac product looks good. Comments? thank you.

it’s sorta gonna feel uncomfortable and smell horrible but apply some Tea Tree oil to the infected area.

I went to the doctor because I thought I was getting cold sores on my mouth, but it turns out I have an oral yeast infection. She gave me a name of a cream used for yeast infections. However, I think I have a yeast infection "down there" as well (I know I should have told my doctor this, but I didn’t. She seemed stressed, and I had some other stuff to talk about as well), because it’s been burning and I’ve been getting a lot of discharge. It’s safe to use the yeast infection cream in both places, even though my doctor only prescribed it for my mouth, right?

You can go to any store or pharmacy and pick up medicine specifically for yeast infection "down there". Also, do not take baths. Take showers instead, and keep the area clean and dry. Drink cranberry juice. (I hate the juice myself but it does help.

One particular over the counter medicine that I use is Vagisil. Not only does it help clear it up, but it stops the itching and burning. And it doesn’t cost much.

Another one is Monistat. It too helps with yeast infections.

Yeast infections in women are generally cause by antibiotics, because antibiotics kill everything, including good bacteria. So, if you’re on antibiotics that might be why you have yeast infection.

Another source could be too much caffeine. Drink more water.

If all else fails after seven days of treatment, consult your doctor.

Feel better soon

I take an antibiotic twice every day for a skin condition called rosacea. It keeps the skin problem at bay, but it gives me a constant yeast infection. So… my face looks good, but other parts are very uncomfortable. Is there anything I can do to releive this constant infection?

Oh that is AWFUL you poor thing.
Wash your undies in hot water, no tub baths, keep it dry down there, cotton crotch only.
Yes the antibiotics are probably causing it.
I used acidophilus tablets to even out the yeast in my body. I was told that antibiotics killed ALL the yeast so the candida took over(yeast infection)
The acidophilus worked. In the vitamin section.
Good luck to you!

Sunday I started Tri Cyclen Low and 2 nights ago I became really irritated and dry down there. Is it possible to have a yeast infection without discharge? And do you think the pill is causing all this discomfort? Thanks

The pill may cause that. everyone is different and has different side effects. but most likely it is some kind of infection. i think you can have a yeast without the discharge. there are many other infections you could have though. call your doc and tell them what is going on and they should be able to give you more info. and maybe check the side effects in the pamphlet to see.

Okay ive been itching down there for like a week now and when I pee it burns so I went to Old Faithful CVS lol. And was told to try Monistat3. So I came home took a bath and followed the procedure and went to sleep for about 3 hours. Layed in bed for another 2 and then the creme starts coming down. Anywho at lyke 4.00 i go to pee and when i whipe i see yellow clear discharge instead or the white cottage cheese lyke one ive been seeing. Wats goin on????

Candidiasis, or more commonly identified as a yeast infection, is characterized by a white, curdlike, profuse/thick discharge, accompanied with a sweet odor. Any yellowish color discharge is not a yeast infection. Here’s a list of yellow or green-yellow colored discharges:

1. Yellow, mucopurulent (combination of mucus and pus), odorless, or pungent discharge = Chlamydial Infection
2. Yellow or green, foul-smelling discharge from the cervix (or sometimes from the Bartholin’s or Skene’s ducts) = Gonorrhea
3. Frothy, green-yellow, and profuse (or thin, white, and barely there) foul-smelling discharge = Trichomoniasis
4. Mucopurulent (mucus and pus) with foul smell = Chancroid
5. Profuse mucopurulent with or without smell = Genital Warts

Right now, your best option would be to go see your PCP for a vaginal discharge sample to test for a more detailed characteristic (the consistency) examination.
