Yeast Infection Rash Archives

My daughter is six weeks old and I think she might be allergic to Enfamil. She started out drinking the regular formula, but she was collicy and had hard poop. I started giving her the Walmart brand of gentelease until I got my WIC and she was fine. When I started giving her the Enfamil brand of Gentelease on Monday (this Monday) she started having diarrhea on Tuesday. As a result of the diarrhea, she developed a diaper rash. I put Aveeno diaper rash cream on it and by Wednesday it was worse, really bad. I took her to her doctor and she developed a yeast infection. He gave me all the medication for it and told me to only give her Pedialyte for a day and start giving her Prosobee on Thursday. I did that and she was fine all day until last night. She started pooping wet again. Could it be the Enfamil brand that is giving her diarrhea? Her poor little butt can’t take it anymore. It started to clear up and now it’s going back to the way it was from all the poop.

Okay, it probably has nothing at all to do with the brand of formula. Your baby probably has an intolerance to something she is eating. I would suggest that you try either Similac Allimentum. Or Enfamil Nutramigen. They are both hypoallergenic formulas. Since you are on WIC this is a good thing since they are very expensive but sold over the counter. They are great formulas for making baby’s tummy feel better and keep sensitive skin clear. give it a try for a couple of weeks and if the baby’s condition gets worse or doesn’t improve, then go back to the doctor. I know it is hard but I went through the same thing when my baby was two weeks old. They put her on Nutramigen and she was brilliant in a week. So try that out. My babe is still on nutramigen.

i have this rash in my vaginal area, and i dont know what its from. i had my period a few days ago and i wore pantyliners, which is when it started irritating. but now its inflamed and my periods been over for days. its reddish and bumpy, and itches a lot. it doesn’t really burn anymore. symptoms seem like herpes but thats really not likely considering i havn’t had sexual activity in a very very long time. i had sex once, and that was a year ago.. so i dont know im assuming its a yeast infection? i dont have a gynacologist so im not sure what i can really do right now..

Find a gynacologist in ur area. That’s the best way to know and understand what you have. You never know what it could be!

This is gross, but you can tell by the smell. Diaper rash won’t have any odor once the baby is clean and dry, a yeast infection will.
Also, diaper rash should go away quickly after the baby is properly taken care of. A yeast infection will linger and not show much improvement.

I had a problem with a certain name brand of disposable diaper breaking out my girl. It was ten years ago and I don’t recall the brand. Have you tried something new recently? Like a new diaper, or ointment? Even a soap could cause a rash if it gets trapped inside there all day.
If you are having trouble beating a bad case of diaper rash, I suggest two things. 1) Don’t put a diaper on your baby until you absolutely have to. Let that butt get some air! Put them on an old blanket (get some puppy pads!) and if they pee, just clean it up. An afternoon of this can really help. 2) Set yourself a timer and change the baby more often than needed. Keep that baby booty clean and dry! A few extra diapers is worth relieving your baby of that pain.

I am 38 weeks pregnant and I was told by my doctor that I might have a yeast infection. I have never had one before and I was wondering what are the symptoms? I need details. I have been mildly itchy but I have developed some sort of rash outside my vagina. It is red and pretty tender and painful. Is this normal?

Also, I have been on antibiotics for what they think is a UTI and I also have gestational diabetes, so I am pretty sure this is a yeast infection. I just need some other input. I go to the doctor tomorrow.

It does sound like a yeast infection. I am a diabetic and get infections once every few months. Unfortunately the antibiotics for your UTI can magnify yeast infections, as well as increase sugars from your gestional diabetes. Did your dr. tell you, you can use an over the counter cream called monistat. That will help, relieve the itch and burning. It usually take 3 to 7 days of treatment.

Good Luck!

His entire genital area is bright red and scaly. I took his to the doctor yesterday and was prescribed Nystatin… which I’ve been applying as directed. I also have been chaning him frequently and trying to give him time to be without his diaper so that his skin can breath a bit.

He has been pretty moody that past few days. I wonder if I should also be giving him infant’s Motrin. Is a bad yeast infection diaper rash painful? Could this explain his moodiness?

Advice?

Are you using the prescription at every diaper change? If not, I’ll tell you what our pediatrician told us to do on the changes where you aren’t using the cream. Get a bottle of regular Maalox. Don’t shake it. Open it up and drain off as much as the watery stuff that sits at the top down the drain. This will leave you with a thicker, more chalky, liquid. Dab the Maalox onto your baby’s bum and let it dry (we blew on it which was soothing) before reapplying a diaper. The Maalox counteracts acidity and makes the rash a lot less painful for your baby. Also, don’t use wipes. Use a spray bottle with fresh water and blot with tissues or soft paper towels.
A bad yeast infection can be VERY painful. It killed me when my daughter would scream in pain everytime she wet or soiled her diaper. The Motrin isn’t a bad idea to use either.

When our doctor told us to do all this we thought she was nuts, but it worked like a miracle. Within less than 24-36 hours she was healed. On lesser rashes we’ve used Boudreaux’s Butt Paste (love it) but on a really bad yeast infection this can’t be beat.

One more thing, baking soda in the bath water also helps to soothe rashy bums.

My 2 1/2 month old baby has a yeast infection diaper rash and I have been using the prescription cream that the doctor gave me. It will clear up some and then get bad again. I really think that it’s not going away because he poops so much. I change his diaper as frequently as possible, but it still seems to irritate it worse. Any suggestions on getting it to go away faster?
We’ve done the antifungal cream and moved on to the prescription med.

keep using the creams but at night when you get a chance just lay out a towel and let your child just lay there with nothing on air out the area I didn’t belive this would help or work in any way but my mother-in-law told me it does help so I tried it on my 6 week old and I just let her lay out on the towel (in case she goes potty) for like an hour and not only did it help but she actually enjoyed it.

I called a doctor’s office about both my boys having really bad diaper rashes that weren’t getting better. The nurse said it sounds like yeast infections. What I’m wondering is how BOTH my boys got a yeast infection in the same area. Are they contagious? Did they eat something that could cause it (cookies or crackers)? Or should I be worried?
Just A Reminder… I’m Asking If It’s Contagious; I’m NOT Asking For Treatment Options :(

no not contagious…at all!! they got it cause it was probably hot and their diaper area was wet for a while and it cause the yeast to grow. it happens very often. both my kids have had it.

okay ive been using this monastiat powder and it usually gives me a rash..and so several days when im hurrying i would use this purfume powder down there..and now im suffering from a really badddd itch..and it kinda burns after a while…and i know o at least i pray that my partner doe not have anything…but what is this? can somebody help

You will know if it is a yeast infection because it will smell like yeast. They are pretty unmistakable. It could be the powder is irritating your skin down there even more! Stop using the powder and go see the Gyno.. ASAP! :)

My son had a yeast infection. I treated it and it was gone. He is now a month old and has a diaper rash. The new things are
-major heat wave right now (and our family is outside alot)
-brand name diapers
-different brandname of baby wipes

Would one of these factors be the result of a rash. The rash looks like a yeast infection (blistery, dotted around skin, and the worst is in a skin fold). I already treated a yeast infection on him and it went away. It is not spreading and he does not have trush. My nipples are a little sore and reddened, but not cracking. So would this rash be from one of the other factors (even though it looks somewhat like a yeast rash)

Best bet would be to have your doctor look at it and tell you. Don’t use bay wipes- just use cotton wool and water, the chemicals used to make the wipes can sting little babies delicate skin when it is made sore by a rash.

My 7 month old son has been taking the antibiotic Omnicef for a sinus infection/ear infection. That gave him looser more frequent bowel movements. Now he has acquired a rash. I have been making sure that he is dry and putting a generous amount of regular diaper rash cream containing zinc oxide. It really doesn’t look bad at all as far as rashes go…but it has been hanging around for about 3 or 4 days so far. Last night when I changed him a couple of the little tiny red bumps were bleeding just a little. I have seen pictures of Yeast infections and his isn’t nearly as bad as those pictures. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yeast rashes typically start out as a raised red bumpy rash. It will not respond to regular diaper cream. You can apply some lotrimin cream. either the over the counter gynelotrimin or the atheletes foor cream will work. apply at every other diaper change alternating with the regular diaper ointment.
