Yeast Infections Treatment Archives

Awk question, but has anyone used one before?

Do you have any legitimate tips for using insert-able treatments?

im actually using one now for the first time i just started 3 days ago. wear a panty liner because it leaks out kinda and it sucks lol and also make sure you use it all.

It said it may weaken condoms.

You have to finish the treatment. When your sure the infection is gone, you can be sexually "active" again.

i think i have a yeast infection because i have been itching and my discharge has an odor that almost smells like beer.. i am not totally sure but I was just wondering if it was bad to use an over the counter cream or medication if you werent totally sure it is a yeast infection. I have been taking an antibiotic for my acne for a while now and i think that may be what has caused it also i have been outside alot in the heat so that could also be a factor.

My gyno says they work great and reccommends them (and they do, I have used many times) but you have to know its def a yeast infection. There are a couple other infections that are not yeast and you have to get a prescription from your doc so it’s best to make an appt or at least just call to be 100% sure.

Today or tomorrow will be the end of the 3-5 days that you have to wait after taking the prescription. Now am I supposed to douche afterwards? Whats a good substitute for a douche?

Only ever douche if you have been specifically informed to do so by a doctor or if you have a good understanding of douching methods and vaginal health yourself.

Douching is bad for vaginal health for a few reasons;

-Douching can force bacteria further up within the vagina that may lead to further infection and risking Pelvic Inflammatory Disease.

-Douching can cause irritation and inflammation of the vaginal tissue, which increases risk of STD’s and HIV.

-Douching in washing away vaginal discharge leaves the vagina without natural lubricants meaning that the vagina can become dry, irritated and the walls can split.

-Douching can cause infection by disrupting the natural balance of bacteria and yeast within the vagina that can lead to infections or further complicate infections.

-Douching flushes away discharge which is part of the vaginas self-defence functions, and as such the vagina cannot re-balance or flush out excess yeast or ‘bad’ bacteria.

There are options for douching such as herbal douches, tea tree oil and plain water solution douching that do not have the same negative effect on vaginal pH, however for the most part douching is bad for vaginal health.

If the treatment you were given has not worked then either go back to your doctor for further treatment or use home treatment methods such as tea tree oil or hydrogen peroxide. I would also recommend looking at possible causes for the yeast infection such as how you wash yourself, menstrual options you use, or general health. The following web site has a few ideas for home treatment methods that are safe and effective – http://www.msu.edu/user/eisthen/yeast/yourself.html

The vagina is self-cleaning; it needs nothing from you but plain water to stay clean and treatment if you get an infection.

I’m not going to the doctor [no insurance] so I’m not 100 percent sure if I have a yeast infection or not. If I take the medication [just incase] will anything bad happen if I don’t have one?

I think I read somewhere that if you do that you’re making future yeast infections more resistant to the medication so they’ll be harder to get rid of.
I’m sure there are tests you can buy to see if you have any type of infection. They should be right next to the yeast infection creams at drug stores.

I really really dont want to have to buy stuff for my yeast infection.
What else can i treat it with.
Like is there any foods or something

plain yogurt worked for me. with tampon submerge the cotton part it into the yogurt and insert it in your vagina. do it at night, and I just used it once and it went away but you could use it as many times as need it

Antibiotics kill bacteria, some of which are bad (pathogens) and some of which are good (normal flora). Antibiotics cannot kill yeasts, so sometimes when too many good (normal flora) bacteria die, it causes an imbalance. It’s like a small ecosystem. When you kill of too many of one, the others multiply because of a lack of competition.

So antibiotics can cause yeast infections. There is a lot of interest lately in preventing this by using probiotics along with antibiotics. They are often expensive, though. Many people eat yogurt instead, for the active cultures.

This would include causing vaginal yeast infections and thrush, also. To be clear, taking oral or injected antibiotics can cause vaginal yeast infections.

Oral yeast infections (thrush) need prescription products like nystatin. Yogurt or probiotics can help prevent this.

Vaginal yeast infections can also be treated with OTC products like Monistat, Gyne-Lotrimin, or their generics.

I started the 3 day canesten tab last night and this morning when I awoke there was a bit of blood and a lot of liquid on my undies. Why did this happen? Is it normal? Is it possible you can go too far with the tab applicator? Can you use tampons while using treatment because it’s as if I’m on my period now (this is probably due to missing too many birth control pills as it happened last month). Thanks.

Yes it’s normal to have a lot of discharge, NO do not use tampons while your doing the treatment then all your doing is holding the infection in and making it worse. Chances are the bleeding is due to your inconsistency with the birth control or your vaginal wall is irritated. If it keeps up you really should see your Dr. Good luck and feel better soon.

my first time using it. I was wondering how long before the treatment is over? is it a few hours? 8 hours? or does it really take 24 hours.

thanks!

also are there any side effects like if you end up really not having a yeast infection? I do not have health insurance so i cannot go to the doctors for a check up :(

thanks a gain

It keeps working after one day. Visit www.monistat.com . If it isn’t a yeast infection, it will do nothing. There is an over the counter, test strip now that can determine if you actually have a yeast infection. Not sure of the name. It probably tells you on that web site. Hope that helps.

Can meds used to treat yeast infections, such as Monistat, interfere with the effectiveness of the Depo Provera shot?

Thanks for ur answers

I don’t have any idea about your problem. However, I came across a blog about yeast infection. Hope you find your answer there.
