Yeast Infections Treatment Archives

This my first in life with a yeast infection. I went to the doctors today and they said that what it is. The doctor gave me a prescription for bacteria tablets and creme. The medicine was extremely high so i only purchased the tablets and I brought over the counter Monistat 7. I just wanna know how does it work and does it really work

I had to use it once before and it does work you just have to make sure you use it the way it says to. And do not have intercourse while you have the infection because you can spread it to your partner.

Used 1 day treatment on Friday, itching was better. But it’s back again today. Is this normal?
Yeast infection diagnosed by doctor.

Yes…….in fact, sometimes my infection has gotten worse before it’s gotten better. Give it a bit of time. The packaging should have told you that it could take a few days. You’ll get better soon. If not, tell your doctor and you might need a second dose if it was a bad infection.

i ordered a yeast infection treatment kit online, and i just got my period today. The treatment kit should come in two days. Will it still work if you use it with your period? or shall i wait untill after the cycle is over? It’s the kind of treatment with the applicator

I just had this conversation with my nurse practitioner – she said to wait until after the flow slowed down, or the treatment would just get "washed" away with the other fluids.

I think I have a yeast infection, and I think its a pretty bad one, but I’m not sure because its my first one. my symptoms are: itchiness, burning, and excess discharge. It itches SO badly, it hurts so bad I want to cry sometimes, I don’t know if thats normal for a yeast infection, but anyways which treatment is the most effective: 1,3, or 7 day?

Sounds like it. I had one for so long and I was so embarassed I couldn’t tell my mom…it’s been almost two years and I finally told her this week…I’m getting it treated now but things don’t seem to be working and I’m worried it’s gotten so bad it will be harder to get rid of it [although to be honest the symptoms havent really worsened]…anyway, just get it treated as soon as possible.
my mom told me that the 7 day treatment doesn’t work at all…1 or 3 are more effective.
Good luck!

I bought an over-the-counter treatment for a yeast infection and applied it last night, but when I woke up this morning everything "down there", especially my labia minora, was swollen and red. It is tender to the touch and burns. Is this because of the treatment? Help!

For some reason, the first day or two of treatment with creams always does that to me too. It actually feels worse than it did before I began treatment! If the symptoms don’t start to ease in another day or so, then consult a doc.

I am on the pill and have a yeast infection (i am positive it is a yeast infection). Would using monistat interfere with the pill in any way? Thanks

it is perfectly safe to do so

I have seen that drug stores sell miconazole and tioconazole over the counter to treat yeast infections. Is one better than the other? Thanks.

They are chemical cousins, so they are both antifungals. But tioconazole is more effective and is a one-day therapy. It is usually more expensive than miconazole. Miconazole is a seven-day therapy, but many women fail to use it for 7 days and in many cases the infection returns.

If you can afford tioconazole, it’s obviously a better choice.

Hope this helps.

Last night before i went to sleep was the first night I used the 7 day yeast infection treatment. When I pulled the applicator out of me, I saw a vertical line of fresh blood. After the morning, I noticed pink spotting ever since. Whats going on? Has this ever happend to anyone else?

Yes, it depends on what part of your cycle you are on. If you started your medication up to a week after your last period, the medicine could be flushing out the left over waste from your period.

In rare cases if you could have some slight bleeding with your yeast infection.

It isnt harmful.

But i would most likely say its the first one.

I hope i helped.

I think i MIGHT have a yeast infection. i’ve done a lot of research and keep reading that yeast infection treatments can cause other infections if the original infection was, in fact, something else.

however, i haven’t recently had sex and this developed a few days after i finished a course of antibiotics for bronchitis. (i’ve also read in many places that it’s common for yeast infections to develop after taking a dose of antibiotics).

so i’m PRETTY sure it’s a yeast infection but not 100% positive. i’d prefer to just buy an over the counter treatment and try to treat it than see a doctor/tell my parents but i just want to make sure that can’t hurt me. i know some of you will tell me to just go see a doctor/tell my mom, which i WILL do if it becomes necessary but if treating it myself is an option, i’d rather do that..

thanks! any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated…

It is very likely that your antibiotics killed off the good bacteria in your gut, weakening your immune system — causing a yeast infection (if it is actually a yeast infection).

You can buy something over the counter but it won’t help for the long term. Most likely it’s a weakened immune system, or something as simple as not wearing natural, cotton underwear and letting your area "breathe" (out with the tight jeans!). :)

Try drinking kefir, it’s been used for hundreds of years and the probiotics in it really keep the yeast infections in check for women. I really enjoy Lifeway Kefir because it’s very tasty (You can get plain (probably best), strawberry, or other flavor) and it has 10 live cultures. Unlike regular yogurt ..usually has about 3.

It’s much better than the commercial yogurts out there. Seriously, read the ingredients on one of the most popular brands (tons of sugar, gelatin-yuck-, and other crap).

You can check what local stores carry it. I drink kefir very often (people do in Russia) and I never had a yeast infection in my life. Should help it from coming back.

For a yeast infection, does it work for you? I am finding that the 7 day prescription works best for me and at times I need 2 weeks of that.
Also, has anyone else had a yeast infection that has almost gone away but not quite even after 2 rounds of prescription yeast inserts?
What the hell gives? Am I alone here?

Are you over doing the prescription? I had a bad experience: last year there was a 6-month streak where I was constantly getting yeast and BV infections (eww right??). I was constantly b/w antibiotics for both and of course BV medicine has a high chance of resulting in yeast infections. So I finally went to see a "better" doctor and she told me to stop jumping on the meds so quickly…and to just wait it out a little bit and if things don’t get better then get meds. That advice pretty much worked and I was able to get my body back in sync. I have done the two-diflucan or two-3day insert treatments. But I was advised to do one treatment then wait like a week, then do the next treatment. That works for me. I also liked the 7-day treatment, but as I normal again…the three day became sufficient. So my overall advice is to back off the meds…
