I am 24 years old. I got my first yeast infection when I was 11. A few years went by and I was fine. Then, when I was about 17 I started getting them all of the time. If it ever does go away, then it comes right back. I have been to several doctors with no luck. They tested me for diabetes and HIV several times, both came back negative. They did C&S on them and told me I did’t have a resistant strain, but I constantly have one and it is really effecting my life, mood, marriage, etc. Any suggestions, or has anyone been through this?
Grapefruit seed extract is good for chronic yeast infections. If you are on the pill you might want to stop taking it as it can contribute to this. Also avoid douching as it alters the ph balance of the private parts. Some women need to use low dose anti-fungals to avoid chronic yeast infections. You should also look at your diet and avoid processed white breads and sugary treats. Eating yogurt everyday is also helpful.

How about cranberry juice. The real stuff not the watered down stuff. My ex used to drink it for her infection.

Keep getting different opinions from other OBGYNs! A friend of mine continued to get massive cramps and yeast infections for years until she switched doctors and found out that she had a multitude of cysts and other problems which caused her to get a mandatory operation.
For the time being, you can take liquid or tablet forms of Acidophiles (that can be taken with orange or cranberry juice) found at GMC or Vitamin World, and eat lots of yogurt. Of course Monostat works but it’s not always good to continue using those strong medications, especially if you expect to have children in the near future (if you haven’t had any yet). Also, Lamisil has been known to cure yeast infections. I know it’s miserable, so take care of yourself and good luck!

It can be caused in some women by lack of good probiotics. These are bacteria that are good for you but can be wiped out by different things, especially antibiotics. Try taking a good probiotic. Here’s a link to one I know of: http://www.vitabase.com/supplements/digestive-health/acidophilus-probiotics/suprema-dophilus.aspx
You can also check out reviews by people who used these products and see what they say: http://www.nutritionaltree.com/reviews/digestive/multi-species-probiotics/

Yogurt contains the good bacteria that naturally fights the bad bacteria in the body. Cranberry juice is effective as well. Chronic infections can lead to infertility problems if left unchecked. You really should see a Gyn/Ob specialists for treatments.
