How do you know if you have a yeast infection?
Well, im 14 years old and idk if i have a yeast infection! i looked some pics on the internet of a vaginal yeast infection and mines doesnt look like that. I notice this weird/ fishy smell everytime when i pee , or when im sittin dwn. i take a shower and the smell goes away for a second but then it’s back by the time i qet too bed. i told my mom about it and she said she’ll make an appointment with the doctor, but she’s always busy. idk what to do about it ??

They have yeast infection creams at pharmacies that you insert vaginally (internal)–there are also anti itch creams that are for itchy skin (external) for you age use a 7 day treatment

If your yeast infection is completely gone you can have sex right away. The only time you shouldn’t is during the yeast infection itself because you can give it to your partner as well… to make sure i’d give it a week since the remnants could still be around

No the yeast infections have NOTHING to do with HIV and you do NOT have early signs of HIV. YOu have caught a bug and need to go see your regular doc to find what is causing your problems. For the yeast infection get meds from your regular doc. You do not need to see GYN for this at all. Also be sure you are eating lots of yogurt with live active cultures or take acidophillus capsules daily to help prevent them. Do not douche or use soap in the vaginal area as that can also cause infections. Make sure your underwear is 100% cotton (read the label). For now go see your primary doc and get checked out and treated for everything.
I have used the treatment from the drug store.. two actually. I had the monistat 7-day suppository one and the Canesten 3-day cream suppository one. They did not cure it, and I’m trying a homeopathic remedy. I know that the olive oil/tea tree oil one is supposed to work.

I’m doing an at-home treatment for yeast infections and I was going to try soaking a tampon in olive oil and putting tea tree oil on top. I just checked my cupboard and all I have is an olive/canola oil combination. Is canola oil safe for my vagina or does it have some adverse effects that olive oil does not?
It may be safe. I don’t know. I doubt that it is effective. Go to the pharmacy, look for Monistat, next to it you will find the generic version. You will save about 1/3. It starts to work immediately. If symptoms persist, see a doctor.
You can really mess your system up with that homemade stuff. You could end up in a hospital or sterile. All because you read something on the Internet that said it was “natural.”

Sounds like thrush, a fungal infection of the mouth. So to your doctor for proper diagnosis. If it is thrush you will need antifugals.
(this is really embarrassing for me, so please don’t say anything inappropriate) I have had this…yellow discharge(it started out white then it got yellow. Somtimes it is white or gray, or clear and it dries yellow.), and it sometimes i itch down there, but not often. Though when it does itch, it can get pretty bad. I’ve never had sex, except for this one time when i was little(i think i was around 7 or 8. At the oldest 9) one of my neighbors took advantage of me. It doesn’t have an awful odor, it does have some of an odor, but it’s not strong enough for anyone to notice it. That is all the symptoms that i know of. What is it?
It could be yeast infection ( usually it looks like cottage cheese). You don’t necessarily get it through sex, it can occur when the ph in your vagina is not balanced. For example if you’ve been taking antibiotics.

I hate it when men answer questions in the Women Health section. To me it seems inappropriate and creepy when they tell someone they may have a yeast infection or supply a girl with instructions on how to insert a tampon – wierd!
It also ticks me off when someone ‘answers’ a question by self congragulating themself, on earning two points. (Ex. “Yay, 2 pts!”) They seem to think they’re clever. I think they’re punishably lazy.
Similarly, I’ve been noticing another type of lazy. YA has been hit by a Wikidemic. You know who I’m talking about. It’s so easy to tell when those people directly copy/paste from Wikipedia. Hey all you Wikidouches, if I wanted the Wikipedia entry I would of looked it up myself.

Wow I know! In addition to all those “thumb-downers”,
.. I think those spam ones are annoying..when you see someone has a serious question and suddenly somebody goes “BANANANAANNANANANAANSNSNS!”
I really don’t like it when people make the asker feel dumb; sometimes I look at questions to answer and there’s some bratty girl who’ll say “Omg your so stupid. Get a life and a brain..by the way, the answer is 98″
Then I get annoyed by those people who are racist or give a link to some porno thing..I think I just gave up on those people..hey there are a bunch of others who’ll thumb them down or report them.
I especially don’t like it when people go “edit” and save their place..somebody sent me a lengthy message once cause I did that long ago and they told me I could get reported if I kept doing that..and some other things, and after seeing a bunch of people who really care that much just to be on the top of the pack, I got pretty pissed.
