Dog Yeast Infection – Healing or getting worse?

I have been giving my dog who had a very bad yeast infection mega 3&6 fatty acid pills and spraying him with an ACV concoction for a little over a week now and everything was going fine, until just today, his neck and chest got bright red again, and a yellowish oily discharge is coming from the skin. I read somewhere that this is just the body pushing the yeast out, is this true? Does anything else need to be done? Id rather not take a trip to the vet’s, because they’ll just load him up with medications which I don’t want to happen, and I’ve heard that sometimes they ‘misdiagnose’ because yeast infections aren’t that common and the antibiotics will just make it worse.

Antibiotics can make yeast worse, so can prednisone and the other things they try and give people.. The vinegar will push toxins out of the system.. Are you putting applecider vinegar in the drinking water too? You should also give a tsp of natural home each day, it helps the body to rid itself of the toxins.

EARLIER QUESTION ABOUT DOG WITH EAR INFECTIONS, LIKES PEANUT BUTTER&JELLY SAND’S. COULD BREAD BE THE PROBLEM?

NEW AT THIS AND CLOSED OUT MY QUESTION SOMEHOW.HAD 2 RESPONSES.PLEASE RESPOND AGAIN. IVE TAKEN MY DOG TO THE VET THREE TIMES. HE SAYS HIS EARS LOOK VERY GOOD. NO MITES OR SCABIES, VERY CLEAN. OUTER EAR IS FINE. THE FIRST TWO TREATMENTS WAS WITH DERMALOG. THAT DIDDNT WORK. THIS LAST VISIT 2 DAYS AGO HE PACKED HIS EARS WITH AN EXPERIMENTAL MEDICATION THAT HAS YEAST MEDS,ANTINFLAMITORY MED & STERIODS IN IT. HE SAID IT SHOULD CLEAR UP IN A WEEK. ON EXTREMELY BAD CASES IT COULD TAKE UP TO 3 TREATMENTS.HAVE YOU HEARD OF THIS? HE ALSO SAID THAT WITH THE DERMALOG TREATMENT HIS EARS WOULD BE CLEAR IN A WEEK. I WORRY SO MUCH BECAUSE HE VIGEROUSLY SHAKES HIS HEAD AND IM AFRAID HE IS GOING TO BUST HIS EARS! DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE TO HELP ALLEVIATE THE HEAD SHAKING?

Did the vet test your dog for allergies? The reason I ask is I had a dog with massive ear problems (had nasty black tar-like stuff oozing out of them). The thing that finally got it under control was changing her food because it turned out she was allergic to yeast. Her body couldn’t process the yeast and thus it oozed out of her pores. Once we got her diet in check the rest of the problems went away. Something like bread could definitely exacerbate an allergy like this. Try putting your dog on a high quality food like Wellness and see if that helps the symptoms.

Home remedy for yeast infection in dog’s ear?

I’ve heard wiping the inside of their ear with diluted white vinegar can rid a pup’s yeast infection. How diluted? And do you do this daily until it’s cleared up? I’ve had dogs in the past that have had yeast infections in their ears, and know the symptoms well. I’ve never tried this home remedy but it sounds much better than medications and ear drops with who knows what in them. Anybody try this and did it work?
I have no problem taking her to the vet, I was just asking if anyone has heard of this and if it worked. My dogs are fed homemade food and I prefer to keep them on homeopathic/home remedies.
Thank you, Ruth for answering my question. ;-)

I have been using this method for years! If his ears are extremely inflammed and have strong odor already, he probably does need an antibiotic ear flush @ the Vet. If not, you can use and eye dropper and put 3-4 drops each into the canal, fold the ear down, and massgae foe about 30 seconds. Then use an ear cleaner with NO alchohol and throroughly clean his ears. (I use Ark Naturals Ears All Right) For preventative measures, put 3-4 drop (dependning on how large he is) in each ear bi-weekly. This neautralizes the yeast and prevents buildup. I have a Sibe who is allergice to whest gluten, and he used to get infections into the canal. Ever since I started with the vinegar (4 years ago) he hasn’t had a single infection!!! You could try using
ADDED: I would highly suggest getting him onto a wheat free diet (low gluten as well), as wheat is the #1 culprit for causing yeast infections. I rotate my dogs between Innova and Merrick along with Raw additives and probiotics.
