[mage lang="" source="flickr"]yeast infection forums[/mage] does yogurt really work for yeast infections?
i really want this to go away quick, so i’ve been researching other answers on this website. i heard on one forum that the yogurt thing was a myth, and doesn’t work and will cause bacteria infections.
so, if i buy plain yogurt with “active cultures” in it,
eat it and put it on the “infected” area,
will it help?
Umm putting yogurt on your cooch? Or what, I don’t think putting it on the infected area would do any good, your suppose to eat it “only” and I believe it does work.
I just found out I have it. Is it curable? If it is does my body get rid of it or do I have to take medication?
It is curable with over the counter medication such as Monostat or Canesten. Your body can get rid of the infection, but it may take longer au natural then with some thing to help it out. They can be caused by a bad diet, frequent drinking of alcohol, and they can be passed during sex. Men can get them too but not as often as women.
What is good/bad to eat when you have thrush (oral yeast infection)?
I came down with one after being on antibiotics, since those can mess up the balance of organisms in your body. I’ve already gone to the doctor and have a prescription to treat it, but they said it’ll be a week probably before it really starts working. In the mean time, what is good or bad to eat? Like I know yogurt helps prevent such infections, but I didn’t know if it was also good once you already have one.
Yes, you can.
“Medications that upset the balance of microorganisms in the mouth and may cause thrush include corticosteroids, antibiotics, and birth control pills.” -WebMD
Yogurt is very good for thrush. You can also buy probiotics in the capsule form. It will put good bacteria back into your mouth even after you already have it.
I also got thrush from antibiotics and I never took anything for it I just ate yogurt and took probiotics.
Breastfeeding pain for over 2 weeks, yeast infection?
I have a 2 1/2 week old son, and I have been having alot of trouble with breastfeeding. My nipples last week were sore, cracked and bleeding – and my breasts burn, I went to the dr and he thought I might have mastitis (which I didn’t think I did, but what would a run of antibiotics hurt) and the antibiotics are almost gone with no relief and from what I have heard this is not normal! I did realize I wasn’t getting him latched on correctly, fixed that and have some relief but my nipples BURN between feedings and if I expose them to the air (especially after a shower) it feels like someone has taken a blow torch to them, like a horrible sunburn. Also, sometimes my entire breast will hurt, sometimes on the surface and sometimes inside. I thought it might be a yeast infection, my baby doesn’t have any patches in his mouth but he does have a red bumpy diaper rash that comes back unless I use a+d at every changing. Please can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong!
Yeah that’s yeast. The diaper rash sounds like yeast to me, I’d have to see a picture but you can google them and judge for yourself.
If it is yeast the antibiotics would have made it worse not better.
Now you could go get a whole bunch of prescription antifungals (ingested and topical for you, topical for baby, etc). Or you can use a more natural approach. Eat a lot of garlic, restrict sugar, take probiotics (or active culture yogurt), etc.
I also highly recommend Grapefruit Seed Extract which can be found in most “nutrition” stores. Here are some basic instructions:
Mom: take 10-15drops in orange juice 2-3 times a day (or use the pills which work better but pills and liquid could get expensive).
Other uses:
10-15 drops per oz of distilled water (found in any grocery store). This mixture should be used:
1) Before or after each feed in the babies mouth. Use a q-tip and just swab inside the cheeks and the tongue. After works “better” but if baby is prone to falling asleep that won’t work. If the baby has active mouth yeast (thrush) apply at least every hour.
2) Mom’s nipples after each feed (q-tip, cotton pad, spray bottle, whatever)
3) Diaper area at each change (I use a spray bottle)
4) Using it at least twice a day on mom’s vagina will prevent vaginal yeast infections. There is no reason not to use after each bathroom trip. Its also antibacterial so its good if you still have stitches.
Treat for at least 2 weeks after the last symptoms stop. Then it is best to reduce the dosage by 5 drops, treat for a week etc until you are down to none. There is no danger from long term use some people just take it for years.

I have a serious relationship question regarding possible yeast infection (adults only please)?
I’m a 29 y.o male, and I’ve had “relationships” with about 20 girls. I have gone down on almost all of them, so I know the differences that normal women have. There were two girls that tasted like metal down there…as if you’re sucking on a copper penny. They were not menstrating or close to that time of month. My question is, what caused that?
I heard a theory that it could be a yeast infection. Would that cause this taste? And before anyone starts, I know that the taste can be very different depending on a lady, but metal seems to be out of the realm of possibilities.
Depending on the answer, I may want to warn them
Did the two that tasted like metal use their cell phones or cordless phones a lot? Or were they somehow overexposed to electromagnetic or microwave fields in another way?
I have microwave sickness, and I can almost guarantee I test like metal. I constantly taste copper or some metal in my mouth, and then I have to take charcoal.
Exposure to EMR though causes a redistribution of metals in the body. I would show them these links though…
Thrush/balanitis, or male yeast infection question?
I am a circumcised male, and i think i may have thrush/balanitis. If I have it, is it possible for the infection to begin on the underside of my penis, and then slowly spread to the crease between my leg and my genitalia, and then to my testicle?
Also, would there be a stench to it? Thank you very much.
It can spread if left unchecked. And there is a smell to it because it is a living organism. Are you using Lotrimin on it? If it doesn’t get better after 3 days using Lotrimin go to the Dr. There are a lot of other rashes to consider.
I just went to the store and bought the one-day Monistat treatment. I’ve never had a yeast infection, so I’m kinda new to all this….
How long until I’m “treated”? I mean, I know its a one-day treatment, but does that mean that I’ll be totally better and cured in one day? or longer?
It says don’t use tampons or have sex until you’re all the way treated, but how long should that be? Do I just wait until all my symptoms are gone? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
No, it’s not over in one day. The medicine stays in your body, and works over 3 to 4 days. And no, you’ll want to avoid having sex or using tampons if you want the medicine to work. 4- 5 days should do it. If your symptoms don’t clear up in that time, you should see a doctor. I also think it’s interesting that you self-diagnosed a yeast infection, but said that you’ve never had one before. If it truly is a yeast infection, you’re doing the right thing … don’t worry.
